This is a unique opportunity to establish and lead a vital committee that will safeguard and promote the rights, dignity, and autonomy of the individuals we support.About Reach Ability:At Reach Ability, we are committed to ensuring that adults with intellectual disabilities live with respect, fairness, and equality. Our Human Rights Committee plays a critical role in overseeing and advocating for human rights across all aspects of our services.About the Role:As Chairperson, you will lead the Human Rights Committee in reviewing practices, and individual cases to ensure they align with human rights principles. You will advocate for a culture of dignity and respect while providing guidance on complex issues.Your leadership will ensure that the Organisation remains accountable to the individuals we support and that their rights are consistently upheld in accordance with legislation and best practices.Key Responsibilities:Lead and Chair Committee Meetings: Facilitate productive discussions, foster collaboration, and maintain transparency in decision-making.Advocate for Human Rights: Act as the voice for the individuals we serve, promoting their dignity, autonomy, and equality.Provide Oversight: Review individual cases and ensure compliance with human rights laws and ethical standards.Promote Awareness: Support the development of training programs to enhance understanding of human rights among staff and families.What We’re Looking For:We welcome applications from individuals with:A strong understanding of human rights issues, particularly related to adults with intellectual disabilities.Experience in leadership roles within committees, boards, or advocacy groups.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to mediate and resolve complex issues.Integrity, empathy, and a commitment to fairness and equity.Legal knowledge of safeguarding and restrictive practices is desirable but not essential.What You’ll Gain:The opportunity to make a lasting impact on the lives of vulnerable individuals.Experience working with a dynamic team committed to human rights advocacy.A chance to contribute to a cause that drives meaningful change in your community.Reach Ability are equal opportunity employers
