Research Ireland’s TY Work Experience Programme  Week of 10th – 14th February 2025  Who We Are Taighde Éireann - Research Ireland is the national agency for research and innovation. We support research and innovation that contributes to Ireland’s economic, social, cultural, and environmental development and sustainability. Through our programs, we strengthen connections between research and community, enterprise government, public bodies, and society to address challenges and create positive impact.  About the Programme After last year’s huge success, we’re excited to offer our TY Work Experience Programme again! This February, we’re opening our doors to curious, hands-on students for one week in our Dublin office. You’ll get an inside look at how Ireland’s leading research funding agency operates and discover how research is making a meaningful impact across various fields, from science and technology to the arts and humanities, both here and worldwide.  What You’ll Be Doing Every day from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, you’ll join interactive workshops, team activities, and hands-on projects across different departments, learning how research is applied in real-world settings and the work we do to support it. Here’s a sneak peek of what to expect: Explore AI and Inclusivity Work with our Research Centres team to understand the role of AI in society. Discuss inclusivity and ethics in technology while considering the impact of AI on people and communities. Think Globally With our International and Communications teams, you’ll look at Ireland’s place in global research and help design social media campaigns on important research topics. Tackle Real-World Issues Work on projects with our Research Policy and Challenge teams, focusing on waste management and research equity, to see how policy impacts society. Skill-Building Workshops Gain practical skills in CV-building, interview prep, and planning with our HR team—helpful for any future career! Exclusive Research Centre Visit Wrap up your week with a visit to one of our Research Centres, where you’ll meet researchers and see innovation up close!  Who We’re Looking For This programme is for TY students who are: Interested in STEM, AHSS or Research subjects and want to see how they’re applied in real life Ready to learn from experienced professionals in a friendly and welcoming environment Comfortable working in groups and independently Excited to try a professional office setting and adapt to a dynamic environment  Programme Benefits Real-World Experience See what goes on behind the scenes in Research funding fields. Skill Development Strengthen your teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills. Creative Problem-Solving Take on team projects that encourage critical thinking and innovation. Networking Connect with other TY students and Research Ireland staff, building valuable contacts and mentorships. Inspiring Environment Experience a professional but welcoming setting that challenges and motivates you.  Could you be Ireland’s next big researcher? Join us for a week designed to spark your curiosity and inspire your future in research!  Application Process We welcome applications from TY students in Dublin or nearby areas eager to gain valuable work experience in research-related fields.  To apply for this programme, students must submit a CV highlighting their interests and any relevant experience, along with a Cover Letter outlining their motivation to join our TY programme.  Please include contact details for a parent or guardian and a Transition Year Coordinator, as these will be used for any necessary communication throughout the application process. Applications should be submitted as one document through our online applicant management system no later than Monday 2nd December.Please note that no late applications will be accepted.   Don’t miss your chance to apply!  The programme will be based in the Research Ireland office located in Three Park Place, Hatch Street Upper, Dublin 2, Ireland, D02 FX65.
