The Wayfinding Centre are seeking innovative Transport & Mobility Trainers. Vision Ireland’s groundbreaking new service The Wayfinding Centre is an immersive, user-friendly transport training environment that aims to facilitate safer and more inclusive journeys in Ireland. The centre prioritises the provision of travel training programs designed to help those with access requirements and disabilities build the skills and confidence to navigate public transport safely and easily.  A first of its kind, the centre places individuals with disabilities at the core of its work, also providing a diverse suite of learning opportunities including disability equality and awareness training, inclusive design workshops and hosting transport accessibility projects with transport, urban realm and academic stakeholders to help address the transport accessibility gap. The Wayfinding Centre is currently seeking dynamic team members with experience delivering mobility training and disability awareness training. Read more about our exciting journey on our website here: Home - The WayFinding CentreContracted hours: 37 hours per week. This role involves a combination of on-site duties as well as tasks performed in various external settingsLocation: Glasnevin, Co. Dublin. Candidates must be eligible to work full-time in the Republic of Ireland.Duties & Responsibilities will include:Support & Education:Provide hands-on 1:1 and group training for people with a range of disabilities, in use of various modes of transportation, teaching independent travel skills, route planning, wayfinding, and road safety skills to empower individuals to navigate transport systems safely and independently. Support individuals across the lifespan to gain confidence in using public transport, and advocate for self-advocacy skills and universal design principles. Provide solution-focused education sessions for groups from a diverse range of backgrounds on how to access and enhance the inclusivity of Ireland’s transport systems. Champion a disability-inclusive approach by engaging with individuals who have disabilities and gaining a deep understanding of their unique needs and experiences. Actively contribute to the development of our transport accessibility community by fostering strong connections and collaborating with all centre stakeholders.  Training Development and Delivery:  Collaborate with individuals who have disabilities and access requirements to create, develop and deliver comprehensive pan-disability training for a range of stakeholders, including equality and awareness training, onboarding and induction training, and accessibility and transport related CPD programs.Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to identify training needs, develop curriculum materials, and coordinate sessions.Develop and deliver engaging and effective training in a variety of formats including in-person, hybrid and online from the centre or as part of community outreach activities.Create and utilise accessible training materials such as presentations and multimedia resources, applying basic learning theories and teaching methods. Maintain accurate records of training sessions and progress.Stay informed about transport & mobility infrastructure, trends, research, and best practices in disability awareness and inclusion, updating training programs accordingly.Evaluate training effectiveness through feedback, surveys, and assessments, recommending improvements as needed.Implement new technologies and innovations related to transport & mobility in training. The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation. Selection CriteriaReporting to the Wayfinding Centre Manager or another nominated officer, the ideal candidate will have: Experience in transport, health, social, or disability services with a focus on education and training. Experience in delivering inclusive mobility or disability awareness training. Demonstrated commitment to accessibility and inclusion for people with disabilities and access requirements, with strong understanding of accessibility issues, disability issues and/or lived experience of disability. Experience developing and delivering travel training to meet the needs of people with access requirements, with the ability to design and tailor training programs to meet the unique needs of each individual. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences in meaningful dialogue and to confidently deliver group facilitation and presentations. Proficiency in accessible documentation and presentation development, and/or willingness to undertake professional development opportunities. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, working independently and collaboratively with internal and external partners to ensure program success.  Knowledge of the broader transport sector or experience in travel-related fields is desirable. Professional Qualifications and Experience:  Certification as a Travel Trainer, Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) or Registered Occupational Therapist will be highly regarded. Degree or equivalent professional qualification relevant to disability, health or transport-related areas.
