Staff Nurse – Endoscopy Unit Permanent Contract, Full Time & Part Time Hours.An exciting opportunity for registered nurses who want to develop their careers and enhance their skills by becoming a member of the Mercy endoscopy team. A robust package of education and training will be provided to new staff with relevant clinical facilitation, support and guidance, to ensure every nurse acquires the requisite skills and knowledge to work competently in all areas of the Endoscopy unit. There is also access and support for relevant post graduate education programmes. We are committed to the professional development & education of all our nursing team.The Endoscopy Unit at Mercy University Hospital (MUH) is entering an exciting phase of development, with increased capacity, new technologies, and extended service provision. The department is staffed by a dedicated team of nurses, doctors, porters and healthcare assistants, HSSD operatives, clerical and catering staff.The unit provides a holistic diagnostic and therapeutic gastroenterology service, is a tertiary referral service for several endoscopic techniques, and also provides a nationwide service (see below). The Centre provides approximately 3,500 endoscopic procedures per annum such as Colonoscopy, Gastroscopy, ERCP, diagnostic and therapeutic EUS, EMR, RFA, luminal stenting, and colon cancer screening. Underpinning the organisational culture in the endoscopy Unit are the Mercy University Hospital values of excellence, team spirit, respect, compassion and justice. Responsibilities Include:Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the nursing care of assigned patients.Practicing nursing according to the Code of Professional Conduct as laid down by the Nursing Board and Professional Guidelines.Ensuring patients are cared for in the optimum clinical environment, adhering to all nursing and hospital wide policies and guidelines.Sharing professional knowledge and skills with colleagues. Eligibility Criteria - Candidates:Be registered, or be eligible for registration, in the general nurse division of the register of nurses kept by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI/Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann).Experience in the acute hospital environment within last three years is essential.Endoscopy Specialist area – Relevant experience and education is desirable. Closing date for applications is 1pm on Monday, 23rd February 2026.MUH reserve the right to create a panel for this post from which permanent, fixed term and specified purpose vacancies of a full or part time duration may be filled. Mercy University Hospital (MUH)MUH is a growing voluntary hospital in the heart of Cork City.
