The services provided include rehabilitation for the older person and those with respiratory disabilities, continuing care services are also provided for the older person, adults with neurological disabilities and individuals with intellectual disabilities. A community diagnostic service is also available. Peamount Healthcare seeks to provide an environment which encourages and develops an improved quality of life for all its clients characterised by independence, self-determination and dignity. Peamount Healthcare is committed to the following values:·        Person centred – seeing each person as unique, giving them a voice, and focusing on ability.·        Respect – creating a supportive environment where everyone is given courteous and respectful care and support.·        Excellence – enabling interdisciplinary teams to deliver high quality integrated care, meaningful outcomes with a focus on continuous improvement.·        Team working – fostering an inclusive, healthy working environment where people are valued and recognised for their individual and shared achievements.·        Quality improvement – supporting teams to embed continuous improvement methodology as part of everything we do.·        Education & Research – partnering with academia to support education, learning, research, and evidence-based care.  Reporting Relationship Reporting through person in charge, responsible to Assistant Director of Nursing Qualifications and or Experience  Essential criteria: • A Bachelor or MA/MSc in any of the following fields: Social CareORApplied Social StudiesORApplied Social Studies in Social CareORSocial Care PracticeORa MA or MSc: in any of the above; Social Work ·        Minimum of five years experience in a Social Care setting.·        Have knowledge of HIQA standards for Disability and the regulations underpinning the standards.·        Evidence of consistent updating of skills and knowledge.·        Completion of a recognised Management Programme or its equivalent.·        Previous experience of leading teams.·        Full Clean Driver’s licence. Desirable criteria: ·        Previous experience of working closely with families and members of the Multi Disciplinary Team. ·        Have proven organisational, interpersonal and teambuilding skills·        Demonstrable Coaching & Development skills within clinical practice.   Purpose of Post   Principle Duties and Responsibilities Professional / Clinical ResponsibilitiesTo ensure that residents have :· An individual assessment based on their specific needs· A care plan tailored based on residents specific needs· Care Plan implemented, evaluated and that modifications are made as care needs change.· Involvement of other practitioners of the multidisciplinary team as the needs of the residents change.· To liaise and report on a regular basis to the Assistant Director of Nursing and Director of Nursing. · To develop and promote good relationships with residents, families and carers, and thus ensuring a holistic approach to care.· To ensure that the documentation relating to residents care is in accordance with Peamount standards.· To ensure strict confidentiality of information regarding residents is adhered too.   Managerial Responsibilities· To Participate and support the Person in Charge in the staff development and induction programme for both trained and untrained staff.· To promote an environment that provides learning and growth for all staff and to participate in learning programmes. · Ensure that all staff have an equal opportunity to avail of educational opportunities provided and assist in maintaining mandatory training records. · To ensure that there is a safe and effective distribution of staff when in charge thus ensuring that the individual needs of residents are met.· To ensure that the unit areas are kept safe, clean and tidy.· Co-operate in managing all resources – including nursing and health and social care staff.· To ensure that Peamount Healthcare Policies and Procedures are adhered to and deliver education on the policies where required. · Encourage evidence based practice approach to care planning in the centre. · Collaborate with the Assistance Director of Nursing and Director of Nursing in preparing, implementing and evaluating budget and service plans for the centre. Quality Outcomes and Audits· In consultation with the Assistant Director of Nursing implement and assess quality management programmes. · To take an active role in leading and developing standards of care through participating in Quality Initiatives.  Health & Safety· To consider the Health, Safety and Welfare of staff, residents and visitors in accordance with the “Health and Safety at Work Act” (1989)· To be aware of the details of the Safety Statement as applicable to the centre. To effectively manage emergency situations. · To ensure that the practice of drug custody of Dangerous Drugs and Administration conforms to the requirement as laid down in the “Misuse of Drugs Act” and ensure that correct drug records are kept. Report discrepancies immediately to the Person in Charge.· Report and record all accidents or incidents involving staff, residents and visitors to the Person in Charge, and the Health and Safety Officer. · Supervise the duties of non-nursing personnel and advise other staff of the need to detect and report faulty equipment and report repairs, which are required. · To ensure the correct and appropriate use of equipment is maintained. · To ensure that the Handling and Moving is adhered to.· Play a central role in maintaining a safe environment for residents, staff and visitors.   Skills,competencies and/or knowledge   ·  Ability to create and maintain effective working relations and networks at all levels, to further the development of the service, and enhance the service's reputation.·  Ability to communicate clearly in a range of forums and formats, including ability to write and present complex reports well.·  Recent successful experience of financial management, including the management of operational budgets·  High level of numeracy, literacy and IT skills preferably using MS Office ·  Full current driving licence with access to a car·  Flexibility in hours of work  Policies & Procedures  ·               To adhere and implement Policies and Procedures as laid out by Peamount Healthcare.·               To be fully familiar with and adhere to the terms of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act. To report immediately any irregularities relating to your area of work.·               To be familiar with Fire and Safety Regulations within your area and to carry out checks as required.·               To be familiar with and implement the Peamount Healthcare policies and procedures in relation to Non-Accidental Injury and Abuse /Safeguarding Vulnerable People.·               To be familiar with the implementation of the safety programme. To be acquainted with the location, procedure and use of emergency equipment.·               Ensure that Quality Standards are met at all times.    Note: Other duties appropriate to the post as may be assigned from time to time by the ADHSC / DOR. All duties must be carried out in person at all times.As the duties and responsibilities of any post in the Services are likely to change with the ongoing need of the service users, i.e. age, level of disability, Personal Outcome Measures etc., staff are expected to have a high level of flexibility, willingness and an ability to develop new approaches to their work as the service users needs demand.    The role of the post holder will not be limited by reference to this Job Description. It would be expected that the role will evolve as professional, structural and service user demands change and the post holder will be expected to demonstrate flexibility skills that will facilitate this. Remuneration for all positions will be in accordance with the Department of Health and Children salary scale commensurate with relevant qualifications and experience.  Job descriptions for the above post and any informal enquiries with regard to essential and desirable criteria are available from the HR Department.  Peamount does not require the use of recruitment agencies.  Peamount is an equal opportunities employer. Canvassing will disqualify applicants. Further information on Peamount Healthcare can be found on our website at www.peamount.ie
