Utilities Billing Team leader

This is an exciting role that has been created due to major growth within the company. This is a chance to work in a highly functioning Finance team reporting to the billing manager. As a Senior Billing Analyst, you will play a vital role in overseeing and managing our billing processes, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and customer service, to ensure timely and accurate billing. The ideal candidate will possess a strong analytical mindset, exceptional attention to detail, and a solid understanding of billing systems and processes. Responsibilities: Billing Operations Management:Oversee end-to-end billing operations, including invoice generation, distribution, and billing accuracy.Develop and maintain billing procedures and guidelines to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Monitor billing performance metrics and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and effectiveness.Conduct regular audits and quality checks to ensure billing accuracy and resolve any discrepancies. Maintain accurate rates and tariffs.Investigate and resolve utility bill anomalies and variances. Manually process utility bills that cannot be system generated as needed.Quality check software-generated bills to confirm the accuracy of utility costs, distribution charges and other fees.  Billing System Administration:Manage and maintain billing systems, ensuring data integrity and proper functionality.Collaborate with IT and software vendors to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.Stay up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies in billing systems to recommend enhancements and system upgrades.  Revenue Recognition and Reporting:Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate revenue recognition in accordance with accounting principles and company policies.Prepare and analyse billing reports, providing insights and recommendations to drive revenue optimisation.Assist in the preparation of audits related to billing and revenue recognition.  Cross-functional Collaboration:Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales, customer service, and operations, to address billing-related inquiries, disputes, and escalations.Work closely with the collections team to ensure timely payment of invoices and resolve outstanding payment issues.Provide guidance and support to junior analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Process Improvement and Automation:Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and streamlining of billing processes.Develop and implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in billing operations.Propose and lead initiatives to automate manual tasks, reducing errors and improving overall productivity.  Qualifications & Skills:Proven experience as a Billing Analyst or similar role, with at least 5 years of experience in billing operations.Experience in Utilities or the Irish energy sector is desirable. Strong understanding of billing systems, preferably experience with major billing software. Proficiency in data analysis and advanced MS Excel skills.Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical thinking abilities.Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.Experience in process improvement and automation initiatives is desirable.Prior experience in a leadership or mentorship role is a plus.Professional certifications are advantageous.
