Bloomfield Hospital is inviting applications for Senior Speech and Language Therapist for a permanent full-time role.  Reports to: Clinical DirectorWork Location: Stocking Lane, Rathfarnham Dublin 16, IrelandContract Type: Permanent, full-timeWorking hours: 37 hours a weekMode of Working: On-site About Bloomfield:Bloomfield Hospital provides a spectrum of neuropsychiatric services to adults with a range of severe and enduring mental health needs such as Alzheimer`s, Parkinson`s, and Huntington`s Diseases, as well as individuals with early onset dementias, schizophrenia and mood disorders. We are the only facility in Ireland that provides a high level of specialized care for people with Huntington’s disease. We also provide specialist palliative care to individuals with mental health needs. In Bloomfield Hospital there is a focus on creating a therapeutic environment by using recovery-oriented clinical practices and therapeutic interventions which are evidence-based to enable and support patients to achieve their highest level of functioning and quality of life. This care is delivered through a Multidisciplinary Team including colleagues in Psychiatry, Psychology, Nursing, Pharmacy, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language, Dietetics, Physiotherapy, and General Practice. Bloomfield Hospital is a 123-bed in-patient mental health service, registered as an approved centre with the Mental Health Commission. Responsibilities:Conducting assessments to identify speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.Designing and implementing individualized therapy plans based on assessment results.Providing therapy sessions to clients, both one-on-one and in group settings, using evidence-based techniques.Evaluating, monitoring, and documenting client progress, adjusting therapy plans as needed.Collaborating with families, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure consistent and holistic care.Participating in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities.Be able to make clinical decisions following assessment of complex cases.Arrange and carry out assessment and treatment/intervention programmes in line with local policy/guidelines.Be able to work collaboratively with the MDT and service users in supporting the management of decision-making and capacity assessments for service users.Communicate results of assessments and recommendations to the service user and relevant others as appropriate.Document all assessments, diagnoses, treatment/intervention plans, clinical notes, relevant contacts, and summaries per department and professional standards.Provide clinical leadership in the day-to-day running of the service by supporting and supervising staff, prioritizing and allocating work, and promoting positive staff morale.Manage, participate, and play a key role in the practice education of student therapists and promote and engage in the teaching / training / support / supervision of others as appropriate.Engage in planning and performance reviews, as required with the Clinical Director.Contribute to service developments by monitoring and evaluating emerging needs and trends in consultation with team members.Develop the role of the Senior Speech and Language Therapist and the service e.g. through planning, audit, production of standards, continuing education, quality improvement initiatives and research.Be responsible for the coordination and delivery of service in designated area(s).Ensure good working practice and adherence to standards of best practice.Participate in the control and ordering of clinical equipment.Requirements:Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Speech and Language Therapy.Registered with CORU as a Speech and Language Therapist in Ireland.Dysphagia qualification to accredited level by IASLT.3 years of full-time post-qualification clinical experience working with adults.At least 1 year of full-time experience working within a Neuro-disability or Mental Health setting with adults.Clinical proficiency in the assessment and treatment of adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficultiesStrong understanding of evidence-based therapeutic techniques and interventions relevant to the role.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Able to demonstrate strong leadership skills.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.Compassionate and patient-centered approach to therapy. The above Job Description is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all duties involved and consequently, the post holder may be required to perform other duties as appropriate to the post that may be assigned to him/her from time to time and to contribute to the development of the post while in office. For further information, please get in touch with the HR team at +35314950021 or email careers@bloomfield.ie
