The Senior Physiotherapist will be responsible for conducting a clinical caseload as assigned by the manager and in accordance with service needs. In addition the Senior Physiotherapist will deliver Educational talks and in-services to colleagues, medical professionals as required, take part in service development and conduct assigned administration duties.Personally and professionally you are accountable to the patient. You are personally accountable for your own actions at all times.  QUALIFICATIONSDegree in Physiotherapy:BSC (Honours) degree in Physiotherapy from the University of DublinBachelor of Science in Physiotherapy from the Royal College of Surgeons in IrelandBachelor in Physiotherapy (Honours) degree from the National University of IrelandDiploma of Physiotherapy of the University of Dublin or the National UniversityBSc (Honours) degree in Physiotherapy from the University of LimerickPhysiotherapy qualification validated by the Irish Society of Chartered PhysiotherapyCORU registeredRecognised post-graduate qualification eg. MSc in Physiotherapy / Sports Medicine / MMACPMembership of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists (MISCP).Continued Professional Development Diary including evidence of reflective practice, In-service training, courses attended and Clinical Governance gained.Post graduate courses relevant to the clinical specialty. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1.    Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation1.1       To demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise in the area of pelvic health..1.2       To undertake the assessment and appropriate management of patients with continence and other pelvic related conditions as designated by the Physiotherapist in Charge.1.3       To be a leader in setting clinical standards using evidence based practice.1.4       To provide advice and support to Physiotherapy and multi disciplinary colleagues on clinical practice issues.1.5       To advise on and discuss the management of patients with continence and other related conditions, when consulted by other Physiotherapist.1.6       To ensure all documentation is maintained in accordance with hospital policies.1.7       To liaise in an effective and open way with all other team members and consultants to promote a team approach to care.1.8       To demonstrate evidence based practice through the process of clinical reasoning and decision making, and allowing knowledge to be applied to complex/different situations.1.9       The Therapist is expected to partake in and contribute to general service planning and development activities and efforts within the department as required. 2.    Communication Skills2.1       Report relevant information verbally and in writing to appropriate personnel.2.2       Respond appropriately to patient/family requests and questions.2.3       Communicate appropriately with colleagues and other members of the health care team.2.4       Recognise self-limitations and seek assistance.2.5       Attend and contribute in staff meetings and team briefing.2.6       Communicate in a manner that avoids antagonism, reduces conflict and prevents undue anxiety. 3.    Education3.1      To act as a mentor for Physiotherapy colleagues.3.2      To act as an advisor and educational resource on a regional and national basis.3.3      To demonstrate leadership and advice as required on research methodology.3.4      To keep abreast of new developments in the Physiotherapy profession and identify opportunities to improve the service.3.5      To assist in the ongoing development of in-service training programmes ensuring that the training reflects that the needs of the service are met.3.6      To promote and encourage the running of in-services.3.7      To clinically appraise the evidence base for Physiotherapy intervention and apply it to change practice. 4.    Health and Safety4.1  Comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures which includes ensuring equipment used on the service is maintained to the required standard and defects are reported to appropriate authorities as soon as possible.4.2      Implement agreed policies, procedures and safe professional practice.4.3      Work in a safe manner with due care and attention to the safety of self and others.4.4      Be aware of Risk Management issues, identify risks and take appropriate action.4.5      Report any adverse incidents or near misses.4.6      Adhere to department policies in relation to the Care and Safety of any equipment. 5.    Administration5.1       Actively participate in the improvement and development of Physiotherapy services by liaising with the Clinical Specialist.5.2       Gather and analyse statistics and participate in audits as directed by the Clinical Physiotherapist.5.3    Carry out other duties appropriate to the post as required from time to time by the Physiotherapy Manager. 6.   Professional Expectations6.1   Function within the limits of Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists and hospital policies, procedures and standards.6.2   Support the Mission Statement of Blackrock Clinic.6.3   Observe appropriate lines of authority.6.4   Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in other areas of the hospital as required.6.5   Set annual goals and objectives with head of department.6.6   Continue to develop personal knowledge and skills.6.7   Seek and take education opportunities in addition to those provided by the hospital.6.8   Provide direct supervision to other members of the team when appropriate.6.9   Participate in working groups to develop and promote quality care within Blackrock Clinic.6.10 Participate in the education of learners and assist with the orientation of new personnel.6.11 Present a professional appearance and is punctual.6.12 Accept responsibility for “Acting Up” in specific instances, as assigned. Why work at the Blackrock Clinic?At the Blackrock Clinic, we are passionate about our people and believe in their development and growth.
