As a key member of the frontline management team, the Senior In Patient Physiotherapist will demonstrate managerial and leadership skills and facilitate effective communication with colleagues in the hospital. The position requires a participatory approach to the development of services and structures, embracing continuous quality improvement and the management of changes necessary to achieve organisational objectives..Main Duties and Responsibilities:Management of all HMC patient and staff referrals by triaging, prioritizing and delegating each referral to the most appropriate physiotherapy provider. Work effectively with the other members of the senior management team to shape, provide and monitor in-patient physiotherapy services, ensuring all services are developed and evaluated. To hold a clinical caseload, working as an autonomous practitioner providing expert patient assessment, clinical diagnosis and management of patients. Ensure that the physiotherapy service is effective, of high quality and well-coordinated. Provide skilled physiotherapy assessment and diagnosis for patients with a wide range of highly complex conditions, demonstrating a high level of clinical effectiveness while acting as a source of expertise to fellow members of the physiotherapy service. Ensure patient records throughout the department are accurate and comprehensive in line with legal requirements and best standards of physiotherapy practice To be flexible with treating in-patients during periods of department leave and day care patients after 4pm Participation in the weekend on call roster when required Facilitate effective communication within the Physiotherapy Department, with Consultants and with other multidisciplinary team members. Play an active role in the operational, strategic management and development of the physiotherapy service. Ensure that policies, protocols and procedures are reviewed for effectiveness and appropriateness and that changes are implemented as necessary. Ensure data collection and analysis to reflect the full extent of the physiotherapy service while monitoring activity, standards and outcomes. Co-operate with the Physiotherapy Managerin the control of expenditure and the management of departmental budgetsDeputise for the Physiotherapy Manager as appropriateEssential requirements for the ideal candidate:·      QualificationsBSc degree in Physiotherapy from University of DublinB.A. (Hons) degree from the National University of IrelandDiploma U.C.D. or Trinity CollegeI.S.C.P. recognised equivalent to aboveMinimum of 4 years post graduate satisfactory experienceKnowledge of the operational procedures in the Physiotherapy DepartmentCurrent member of ISCP or CORUAbility to participate in ‘emergency’ respiratory service (post induction)Desirable SkillsKnowledge/ ExperiencePost graduate qualification diploma /masters in management /Clinical areaMember of relevant special interest groupTeaching/tutoring experienceITC experience and participation in ‘on call’ weekendExperience in training/supervision of junior staff/students/assistantsSkills/ CompetenciesBroad knowledge of the main clinical areas, in all aspects of the serviceBackground knowledge of Hospital operationsPresentation skillsBudgetary skillsWhy work at the Hermitage ClinicThe Hermitage Clinic are passionate about our people and believe in their development and growth.
