Be personally accountable for own actions at all times. Professional Qualifications ,Experience etcCandidates must:(a) Possess a B.SC(Honours)degree in Physiotherapy from the university of Dublinor(b)Bachelor of science in Physiotherapy from the Royal collage of surgeons in Ireland.or(c)Posses the Bachelor in Physiotherapy (honours )degree from the National University of Ireland.or(d)Or Possess the diploma of Physiotherapy of the University of Dublin or the National University.or(e)Or possess the BSc (Hons) degree in Physiotherapy from the university of Limerick or(f)A Physiotherapy qualification validated by the Irish Society of Chartered PhysiotherapyMembership or of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists.Continued Professional Development Diary including evidence of reflective practice, In-service training, courses attended and Clinical Governance gainedPost graduate courses relevant to the clinical specialtyKEY RESPONSIBILITIESAssessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation·    To demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise in the area of Acute surgical care, including cardiothoracics.·    To review and update Acute surgical and cardiothoracic Protocols, information sheets and all relevant documentation as required.·    Ability to instruct and teach junior staff, students and other team members with regard to Physiotherapy surgical procedures.·    Keep abreast of current advances and research in relevant surgical care to ensure that a high standard of care is maintained by the physiotherapy service.·    To attend courses and study days as appropriate and liaise on a regular basis with other relevant Surgical and Cardiothoracic facilities.·    Participate in the on-call rota as required.·    To ensure all documentation is maintained in accordance with hospital policies.·    To Liaise in an effective and open way with all other team members and consultants to promote a team approach to care. Communication Skills·    Report relevant information verbally and in writing to appropriate personnel.·    Respond appropriately to patient/family requests and questions.·    Communicate appropriate with colleagues and other members of the health care team.·    Recognise self-limitations and seek assistance.·    Attend and contribute in staff meetings and team briefing.·    Communicate in a manner that avoids antagonism, reduces conflict and prevents undue anxiety. Management ·     Provide leadership and direction to personnel and others .·       To manage and coordinate an effective, efficient and quality Surgical service, to include Cardiothoracics in co-operation with the Physiotherapist in charge. ·       Responsibility to oversee physiotherapy care administered by the Junior physiotherapy staff working on your team.·       To orientate new staff members and students in the surgical and cardiothoracic Service. ·       To actively participate in and promote continuing professional development.   ·       To manage the ordering and supply of equipment.·       To be familiar with the computer system particularly PIMs.·       To manage workload and liaise with the Physiotherapist in charge with regard to staffing levels.·       To deal with patient queries and complaints in liaison with the Physiotherapist in Charge.·       To ensure that accurate and relevant statistics of activity levels are maintained.·       To develop the Surgical Physiotherapy Service in a progressive manner. ·      To oversee the role of the Physiotherapy Assistant and delegate duties as appropriate.Staff Management·       To lead by example a professional, dedicated and punctual team.·       Facilitate professional development of team members through promotion of continuing professional development through self learning, formal courses and in-service training.·       To ensure staff compliance with hospital policy on CPR, Manual Handling, Health and Safety, Infection Control, and Fire Training.     Health and Safety·    Comply with Health and Safety policies and procedures which includes ensuring equipment used on the service is maintained to the required standard and defects are reported to appropriate authorities as soon as possible.·    To ensure a safe working environment in your area..    Professional Expectations·    Function within the limits of Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists and hospital policies, procedures and standards.·    Support the Mission Statement of Blackrock Clinic.·    Observe appropriate lines of and skills.·    Seek and take education opportunities in addition to those provided by the hospital.·    Provide direct supervision to other members of the team when appropriate.·    Participate in working groups to develop and promote quality care within Blackrock Clinic.·    Participate in the education of learners and assist with the orientation of new personnel.·    Present a professional
