Senior Civil Engineer

We are currently seeking to recruit for a Senior Civil Engineer to join us here at Aqua Consultants. You may be required to travel to client offices 2-3 days a week.Sector: Predominantly working within the Water industry but may cover wider utilities and infrastructure.Qualifications: Degree in Civil or Structural engineering is essential. Chartered Engineer, member of IStructE or ICE.Skills and experience:Detailed knowledge of structural engineering codes – Eurocodes / BSI etcExtensive experience of RC design and detailing including water retaining structures, soil retaining structures, foundation design.Experience of steelwork design.Working knowledge of geotechnics and soil-structure interactions.Experience of the water / utilities sector an advantageAbility to prepare, review and approve structural designs.Knowledge of computational analysis techniques and software, knowledge of BIM is an advantage.Ability to inspect, diagnose and make recommendations relating to re-use or adaptation of existing structures.Knowledge of established and emerging construction techniques.Track record of commitment to sustainability: re-use of existing structures and materials; design for low carbon construction, etcAbility to contribute to project and business management – resource planning, fee estimation etc.Understanding of cost and contract management is an advantage.Personal Attributes:Takes ownership of the role and leadership in growing Aqua’s capability.Collaborative team player – ability to lead and participate in multi-disciplinary teams.Client facing – ability to forge and maintain excellent Client relationshipsExcellent communicator – able to explain complex structural concepts to a range of audiences including Clients, Contractors, junior and senior colleagues.Supportive and mentoring towards colleagues.CORE RESPONSIBILITIES*Please note this is not an exhaustive list but gives a flavour of the work to be undertaken*This is a consultant role and it is likely the post holder will be seconded into one of Aqua’s clients on a part time or full time basis on an occasional or permanent basis.Key responsibilities include;Apply their knowledge and experience, either working independently or supervising a team.Undertake technical design and analysis for both new build and existing steel, reinforced above and below ground concrete civil structures, using appropriate structural analysis and design packages, following local and national guidance.Collaborate and form relationships with others at all levels, both inside and outside Aqua to support multi-disciplinary project delivery.Lead and implement high levels of quality, and consider sustainability and safety, at all stages of the design and asset lifecycle.Support the preparation of briefs, scopes of work, and input into bid proposals.Successfully manage time and budgets to project milestones and programmes.Contribute to the growth and development of yourself and others.Why Aqua Consultants?We are a fast growing organisation with highly experienced staff at the heart of everything we do.
