If you want to help businesses and protect the environment, this role could be for you. What we would like to offer you: Competitive salaryCompany car / car allowancePension schemeRefer a friend scheme25 days of annual leave, plus bank holidaysCompany phone, laptop, iPad and PPE providedTraining and career progression opportunitiesLife Assurance SchemeEmployee Assistance Programme (with access to virtual GP appointments, Physio appointments and Mental Health Support)An opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to join the team in the position of Senior Environmental Consultant, as part of the Consultancy East team, reporting to the Regional Manager.The Senior Environmental Consultant will support the Consultancy Division in providing customers, colleagues and other stakeholders with commercially aware, technically proficient and professional environmental risk reduction services. This is a full-time role with daily hours of 9am - 5pm, with a one hour unpaid meal break, Monday - Friday (35 hours per week). Due to the responsibilities associated with the role, it will be necessary to dedicate any hours as required to provide the managerial support to the business to ensure all tasks are completed. The post holder will also be required to satisfy overtime requirements and due to the nature of the duties of this post on occasion may be required to stay away from home overnight. Key tasks and accountabilities associated with the post are as follows: Leading and supervising project management of environmental insurance claimsLiaison with all stakeholders including clients, contractors and homeownersUndertaking site investigations to determine the extent and severity of impact and assessing environmental risksLogging of soils during investigations to a high standard and in accordance with best practicePreparing health, safety and environmental documentation including risk assessments and method statements along with reporting of H&S near misses and positive observationsManagement and planning of site investigations, monitoring, remedial and validation worksScheduling and interpretation of field and laboratory dataProduction of interpretive environmental reports including conceptual site models (CSM) and preliminary (PRA) and generic quantitative risk assessments (GQRA)Undertaking and supporting the design, implementation and verification of environmental remediation worksDemonstrating a commitment to ensuring consistently high levels of safety, technical robustness, commercial awareness, organisation and customer satisfactionUndertaking quality assurance and safety performance auditsParticipating in business development activities as a technical advisor and managing key clientsWriting high standard reports which are technically sound and commercially focused. This list is not exhaustive, and the successful candidate can expect to undertake any other duties for which they are qualified and able to undertake. Senior Environmental Consultant requirements:A degree in a relevant earth sciences, or geo-environmental discipline and, ideally, be a member of a relevant professional organisationAn MSc in a relevant subject (beneficial but not essential)5 years’ work experience in managing environmental incidents, carrying out contaminated land surveys and site investigations, with knowledge of available drilling techniquesPossess knowledge of remediation technologies for contaminated soil and groundwater, i.e. have experience of operating on contaminated land projects where there is petroleum hydrocarbon contamination, a working knowledge of key guidance and standards including Land Contamination Risk Management (LCRM) and BS10175 Investigation of Contaminated Sites, be proficient in logging soil and rock in accordance with BS5930 and have strong skills in the development and updating of CSMsPossess the ability to work together in a team and also demonstrate the drive and self-motivation to work independently, with minimal supervisionPossess the ability to take ownership of and manage projects to meet deadlines and project budgetsPossess experience / sound knowledge of current and emerging environmental legislation, guidance and best practice applicable to contaminated land consultancyPossess practical experience of the chemical analyses which can be performed on soil, water and air samplesPossess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate via clear and prompt written and verbal communications to colleagues, clients, contractors, regulators and other consultantsBe competent and diligent in the production of technical reports to a high standard, that are commercially focused and to meet challenging deadlinesDemonstrate a good degree of flexibility and possess strong organisational and time management skills Be computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft applications.
