Hermitage Clinic will be going live with a new lite RIS (Swiftqueue) and PACS (Change Healthcare) end of 2022. This role is important in making a significant contribution, developing and maintaining best practice in Diagnostic Radiology services.About the roleThe RIS/PACS manager will be responsible for managing the storage, display and distribution of diagnostic images within Radiology and throughout the Hermitage Clinic. In addition, the RIS PACS manager is responsible for providing training and support to radiology, other HMC staff and consultant suites according to their respective needs. Monitoring and improving the performance of the clinic’s RIS/PACS system and using it to produce accurate performance on all areas of activity are key responsibilities. Key Responsibilities Technical Support• To maintain a good working knowledge of and provide advice in first line fault diagnosis for the Clinic’s IT systems directly impacting on PACS e.g. HIS (Meditech), RIS.• Provide System Administration support to the departmental including tasks such as user management, retrospective and prospective analysis of error logs, backups, database management, and management of archive media. • To work with Change Healthcare to ensure optimum functioning of PACS. • Co-ordinate the implementation of software upgrades. • To work with departmental clinical managers to ensure smooth interoperation of all imaging modalities with PACS and to explore incorporation of developments e.g. Dicom MPPS, planning CT’s etc.• Provide first line application support to all users, including the diagnosis of system hardware, software, network and user faults. • Comply with departmental fault reporting procedures for RIS/PACS. • Provide information and advice to Radiology Management Team to assist in service support and development. • To provide advice and information to the Radiology Services Manager in connection with Managed Service Contract issues relating to RIS/PACS • The RIS/PACS Manager is supported by an administration team member in the daily operations.• To liaise with the Radiology Services Manager to ensure continuity of support during periods of leave or other absence • To maintain close links with the IT department and ensure strategic fit, and technical integration of digital imaging systems with the Clinic’s plans for Electronic Health Records. To act as Radiology liaison for IT on issues relating to EHR.• Ensure compliance with relevant IT department policies for clinical systems e.g. backups, data integrity, security and access. • To implement and maintain a QA programme to monitor optimum system performance and effectiveness of both equipment and users.• Develop and maintain Clinic policies and procedures in relation to RIS/PACS. • Provide BEAM transfers/CDs/DVD’s and on occasion film to referrers and patients on request.• Upload external CD’s and reports for review, comparison or MDT’s.• Liaise with MDT Coordinator regarding Image and Study preparation for discussion in MDT’s.• Ensure appropriate Disaster Recovery procedures in place.• Radiology IT systems are backed up on a third party cloud ensuring a swift recovery time from any major issues where systems are compromised e.g. cyberattack.Personal/Professional • Maintain and develop RIS/PACS knowledge, and actively seek to update changes within radiology. • Become expert in all installed PACS applications including Workflow Intelligence and Business Intelligence. • Provide friendly and helpful support to system users across the Clinic. • Maintain a pro-active role in the clinical effectiveness of PACS through good communication and clinical involvement.• To keep up to date with department and Clinic information, events and developments.• Any other duties necessary for the successful performance of the role.
