Renewables and Energy Storage Lead

We are seeking a Renewables & Energy Storage Lead to join the Power and Energy Sector at Tony Gee and Partners.LocationThis is a Full-time role based in any of our UK offices. Our typical working pattern is 3 days per week in the office and 2 days per week from home. Services include both permanent and temporary works design with focus on solving complex engineering challenges and delivering highly innovative, constructible solutions.Power & Energy SectorTony Gee has been working in the power & energy sector for over 10 years in 3 core markets – renewables & energy storage, grid and nuclear. We are currently delivering power & energy projects across the UK, and some overseas offices, with c. 120 FTE staff engaged in delivery.To realise future growth aspirations within the sector, we have identified the need for a Renewables & Energy Storage Lead to join our business.Renewables & Energy Storage MarketWithin the renewables & energy storage market, we currently support several sub-markets with both front-end and detailed design services, including:onshore windoffshore windsolar & BESSpumped hydro storageIn time, we aspire to expand this to include:air energy storagecarbon capturehydrogen (green/ blue)Role OverviewThe individual will be responsible for leading our global approach to renewables & energy storage market within power & energy sector, developing and delivering a strategy that supports future growth aspirations.This is a strategic director level role within power & energy sector with both UK and international remit. The individual will be a key member of the sector leadership team (SLT) tasked with delivering the businesses 5-year strategy for the sector.ResponsibilitiesDeliver WorkMaintains oversight of delivery at portfolio level, working with local office sector leads, project directors, technical leads and project managers to support delivery as requiredWorks with technical leads and project teams to implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance our service offering to clientsSupports the technical peer review process within the area of expertiseIdentifies and supports the development of new service linesWin WorkDevelops and maintains a sound understanding of market, including key prospective clients, projects, programmes and emerging technologiesDevelops and owns market growth plan, including development of value propositions, partnerships and service lines to position Tony Gee strategically within the marketLeads key account management by working to reinforce existing and form new relationships with key clients to realise market growth plan targetsIdentifies, tracks and maintains leads and enquiries, ensuring these are captured accurately in market pipelineWorks with the office sector and technical leads to ensure our ability to deliver the market pipelineLeads business development and promotion of Tony Gee profile within the market, representing the business at key industry eventsLeads major bids and supports minor bids as required with business development and local office teamsOperationsSupports the development of a strategy for the power & energy sectorReporting LinesThe Renewables & Energy Storage Lead will sit on the power & energy SLT and report directly to the Head of Power & Energy.ExperienceCivil, structural or geotechnical engineering backgroundSignificant experience in renewables project delivery (refer market overview above) at both front-end and detailed design stagesFirm grasp of renewables market, including risks and opportunitiesStrong communication and influencing skillsKey account managementAbility to develop and negotiate proposals directly with clientsQualificationsCivil/ structural engineering degree or equivalent industry experienceChartered Engineer or equivalent industry experience
