Organization BackgroundFounded in 2011, the International NGO Safety Organization (INSO) is an international NGO that supports humanitarian aid workers by establishing safety coordination platforms in insecure contexts.INSO provides registered NGOs with a range of free services, including real-time incident tracking, analytical reports, safety-related data and mapping, crisis management support, staff orientations, and training. INSO is registered in the Netherlands, with its headquarters located in The Hague, a city renowned for its international focus on peace and justice.About the Role As Regional Director, you will lead and shape INSO’s work across West Africa and Latin America with the potential to expand as our presence in the region grows.In this role, you will mentor and guide Country Directors, ensuring that programmes are high-quality, compliant with donor requirements, and aligned with INSO’s mandate. You will oversee financial management, provide strategic direction, and strengthen the impact of our country offices.Your leadership will take you regularly to the field, where you will monitor activities, support teams, and engage directly with partners. Flexibility and readiness to travel across all covered countries are essential.This is a fully funded position, available for an immediate start.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesStrategy & LeadershipGuide and mentor Country Directors in delivering INSO’s mandate and annual plans.Drive programme development and donor engagement across the region.Support country teams in adapting to the humanitarian reset and its impact on INSO’s role.Programme & Operations ManagementSupport Country Directors in access, security coordination, external engagement, and country strategy.Act as technical referent for Deputy Country Directors and foster collaboration across advisor teams.Conduct regular field visits to monitor operations, provide support, and engage with partners, donors, and authorities.Field–HQ CoordinationLead the regional team of HQ technical referents (operations, finance, HR, training, analysis, information).Ensure programme quality, financial oversight, donor compliance, and safeguarding across offices.Promote cross-regional learning and integration of organisational policies and best practices.Representation & External EngagementSupport country teams in implementing acceptance strategies to maintain safe operational space.Strengthen INSO’s profile with NGOs, donors, UN, and humanitarian fora at country, regional, and global levels.Maintain HQ-to-HQ relations with donors and partners, and represent INSO in strategic fora and advocacy initiatives.Knowledge, Skills and ExperienceEssential5–7 years’ senior management experience in international organisations.Proven ability to manage programme budgets of $2M+.Track record engaging national authorities, HQ, boards, and field teams.Combined field and HQ/regional experience (e.g. Program Director, Country Director, Regional Director, Desk Manager, Head of Emergency).Strong expertise in humanitarian safety, access, coordination, and principles.Operational background in West Africa and/or Latin America.Master’s degree in international relations, conflict, humanitarian practice, or related field.Willingness and ability to travel frequently to high-risk and restricted areas.DesirableSpanish language skills.Strong communication and change management abilities.Experience expanding programmes in Central Sahel or Latin America.Previous senior INSO experience (field or HQ).Experience supporting country directors/programmes from HQ, regional, roving, or peer-to-peer roles.Core CompetenciesAnalytical Approach – Ability to identify problems, evaluate options, and contribute to effective solutions.Communication – Strong listening, questioning, and clear interaction skills to engage confidently with staff.Autonomy – Works effectively without supervision, taking initiative and responsibility for outcomes.Reliability – Meets tight deadlines, demonstrates strong work ethic, and follows through on commitments.Teamwork – Collaborates generously, shares knowledge, and contributes positively while remaining independent.Integrity – Earns trust by making sound, responsible decisions aligned with organisational values.Safeguarding Policy  INSO is fully committed to safe recruitment, selection and vetting of all potential new staff, trustees and volunteers and we will ensure rigorous compliance with our Code of Conduct and Safeguarding policy throughout the recruitment process.   Terms & Conditions Duty Station: The Hague, Netherlands (with frequent travel across West Africa and Latin America). Contract: Full-time, 12 months (renewable). Salary: €8,000 per month, 8% vacation pay (vakentiegeld), 2.5 days annual leave per month.  This post is eligible for a Highly Skilled Migrant visa sponsorship and relocation allowance.
