We have the most advanced diagnostic imaging equipment available today, full Cardiological facilities including a Cardiac Catheterisation Suite and Clinical Laboratory servicesWe currently have a vacancy for full time,Permanent Radiation Therapist to join the Radiotherapy team. The role will report to the Radiotherapy Services Manager. There department has two Elekta Synergy Linear accelerators with Cone beam capabilities and Ireland’s first CyberKnife Centre. The Radiotherapy Department has three treatment areas and three Radiation Oncologists whom have clinics on a weekly basis. The role is responsible for the provision of services in line with standards of Radiation Therapy Practice. As a key member of the frontline team, the Radiation Therapist will demonstrate professional and team skills and facilitate effective communication with colleagues in the hospital. The position requires an operational approach to the development of services and structures, embracing continuous quality improvement and the management of changes necessary to achieve organisational objectives.OperationsDemonstrate evidence based practice through decision making and apply it to complex casesEnsure that the Radiotherapy service delivered to patients meets professional and European standards of practiceBe accountable for the treatment unitMaintain accurate information systems for clinical data in accordance with departmental and hospital policiesConduct on treatment assessment of patientsAssessment of pre-treatment images and approval of verification imagesIn depth assessment of treatment planFinal confirmation of radiotherapy treatment with specified time frameDisplay empathy and understanding even when exposed to distressing or emotionally affecting situationsAlways consult senior staff when unsure of the appropriate course of actionExhibit advanced physical skills including hand eye and sensory coordination and spatial awareness where fine detail is required and small margins for error existMaintain concentration at an intense level for extended periods frequentlyDemonstrate clinical reasoning and knowledge in the assessment and treatment of patientsMake judgment calls involving highly complex situations and scenarios which require analysis, interpretation and comparison of data from a range of sourcesLiaise with Physics team on equipment issues and report any concernsEnsure that services are based on the latest research findings and constitute best practice.Develop close links with other healthcare facilities relevant to the delivery and enhancement of services.Ensure that all records are properly and accurately maintained.Communicate and develop effective relationships with Medical Consultants, Clinical Nurse Managers and other relevant hospital staff to ensure safe, efficient management of the Unit/Ward.Identify opportunities for the development of services that will improve the care of patients.Promote a patient centred culture of openness and responsiveness to positive and constructive patient feedback and ensuring patient dignity, respect and choice is maintained in their care.  The Person:Knowledge/Experience·       Possess appropriate qualification in Radiation Therapy: BSc Radiation Therapy·        Be registered with the Radiographers Registration Board – CORU.Skills/ Competencies·        Clinical Skills·        IT skills·        Quality focus·        Risk Management·        Excellent interpersonal and communication skillsThe Hermitage Clinic are passionate about our people and believe in their development and growth.
