Job DescriptionWe are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join our expanding teams working across the UK and Ireland. The candidate will form a key part of the commercial team and will be required to be client facing at times. Given the nature of this role it will be split between our offices in Limerick and Wales, with travel as and when required.The successful candidate will be joining a very experienced team of talented individuals with expertise across a wide variety of engineering disciplines and proven success in delivering large scale projects.Reporting toCommercial DirectorRole and ResponsibilitiesThe key responsibilities for the successful candidate will include:Manage the subcontractors contract obligations to ensure compliance Evaluate and approve subcontractor applications for payment Manage the subcontractor variation account including evaluation and approval of subcontractor submitted variations Identify variations that may be claimed from the Client and prepare claims for submission to the ClientEvaluate and approve back charges from/to the Client, Employer & Subcontractors Review and approve all work package correspondence for commercial and contractual intent Provide commercial & contractual advice to the project team members Provide input into the production of:Monthly commercial reports Applications for payment to the clientContract claimsReport any commercial and contractual risksUndertake additional commercial and contractual activities as requiredEffectively communicate with the Project Manager/Director or the Commercial Director advising of any issues that may affect the cost, value or margin of projectsBe able to communicate Contract/Sub-Contract advice to site-based staffPlacement of subcontract orders to step down contractual terms and manage risk, including placement of ITT’s and ensuring notices and payment are made on timeKeeping accurate relevant recordsDealing with contractual disputes and ensuring payment notices are in place and in line with current legislationFinal Accounts –assessment of and timely submission of final accounts giving regular updates to the client to ensure expectations are alignedAdvise on and mitigate the effects of disputes – Recognise potential contractual issues on site and make good records including photographs and written statements to protect our clients’ interests.CompetenciesExcellent communication, interpersonal, influencing & diplomacy skillsExcellent written and verbal communicationSelf-motivated, assertive and enthusiasticAbility to prioritise tasks & work to tight deadlinesAbility to work with several stakeholders simultaneouslyThe ability to work as part of a teamProfessional, positive & organised problem-solving approachIndustry & market insightExcellent Microsoft office suite skills – Excel, Word, PowerPointExcellent knowledge of cost management software packages eg; BuildsoftA good knowledge of construction methods and materialsBudget estimating skillsA good understanding of building contracts terms and conditions, and their legal and operational mechanismsPractical experience of turnkey construction projectsQualificationsDegree/HND or HNC in Quantity Surveying or a similar commercial degree in constructionRICS membership preferredCSCS or SafePass certifiedA full clean driving licenceExperience3-5 years’ experience working with a main contractor on large scale commercial building projects/large scale civils projectsKnowledge of telecoms network deployment preferable but not essentialDemonstrates good commercial and business acumenExcellent written and spoken English requiredSalary:Negotiable
