We support customers across Europe, North America, and Asia, delivering tailored engineering services that drive long-term success.NeoDyne is seeking a highly experienced Automation Project Engineer to support one of our key client sites on a contract basis. The successful candidate will work closely with the NeoDyne team and play a critical role in delivering automation expertise across the Cork based site.This role is responsible for providing day-to-day support of OT platforms, participating in system lifecycle activities, and contributing to the implementation of the site's broader automation and digitalisation strategy.ResponsibilitiesProvide first-line response for automation incidents, ensuring minimal downtime and effective root cause resolution across manufacturing, utilities, and laboratory systems.Respond to support requests related to PLCs, SCADA, historian systems, and associated interfaces in a timely and compliant manner. Execute routine preventive maintenance activities on automation platforms in accordance with the site’s asset care plans.Participate in an on-call support rota, providing out-of-hours automation support as needed to maintain business continuity.Troubleshoot, maintain, and support core automation platforms including Siemens PLCs, SCADA systems etc.Support the execution and documentation of automation change controls, deviations, CAPAs, and validation deliverables (URS, FS, IQ, OQ, PQ).Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, IT, Quality, and Operations to ensure alignment of automation activities with site needs and regulatory requirements.Contribute to projects involving automation system upgrades, new equipment integration, and infrastructure improvements, ensuring all changes are aligned with the site OT strategy.Assist in implementing cybersecurity, data integrity, and lifecycle management practices for automation assets.Engage with vendors, integrators, and service providers under the direction of the Automation Lead, ensuring adherence to site standards and procedures.Maintain accurate and compliant documentation for all automation systems and support audits or inspections as required.Experience RequiredBachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.Minimum 2 years of experience in an automation or control systems role within a GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or manufacturing environment.Hands-on experience with PLCs and SCADA systemsDemonstrated ability to support incident response, execute preventive maintenance, and maintain automation system uptime.Working knowledge of validation practices and documentation (GAMP 5, IQ/OQ/PQ, 21 CFR Part 11, data integrity).Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and documentation skills.Willingness and availability to participate in an on-call support rota.Effective communicator and collaborative team playDesiredFamiliarity with OT cybersecurity best practices and IT/OT integration approaches.Competency with scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, VBA, SQL) for automation or data tasks.Prior involvement in equipment integration or digital transformation projects.Experience engaging with third-party vendors, system integrators, or remote support teams.CharacteristicsWe look for candidates whoHave excellent problem solving and diagnostic skills.Work well as part of a team.Can complete tasks independently, capable of self-learning.Can prioritise and coordinate work.Have excellent customer service, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.Can multitask and work well under pressure.Are a strategic business thinker.What’s on OfferCompetitive hourly rate based on experiencePaid overtime available, depending on project demandsFlexible working hours may be accommodated in line with project requirementsOpportunity to work on a high-profile biopharma site with a collaborative, technically strong teamChance to be part of NeoDyne’s network of engineering professionals, contributing to impactful automation solutions in the life sciences sectorNeoDyne Ltd is an equal opportunity employer, and all applications will be treated in strictest confidence.
