Practice Educator – Physiotherapy (Temporary Contract, 1 WTE)Senior Physiotherapist 1.0WTE (0.8 Practice Educator, 0.2 In-patients) The post holder will report to the Physiotherapy Manager. Responsibilities - The post holder will be responsible for; Liaise with UCC Practice Education Co-ordinator and students to ensure optimum practice education learning experience.Organise and co-ordinate placements in the healthcare agency/agencies in liaison with the University.Provide induction to students on practice education, site policies and procedures relevant to their placements.Ensure student learning contracts/placement objectives are agreed at the start of each placement.Evaluate the student learning experience within practice and its contribution to the whole learning experience.Promote and develop communication and links with a range of local services in order to develop practice education placement learning experiences.Be instrumental in the development, application and implementation of polices and clinical standards of practice relating to respiratory care and monitor adherence on an ongoing basis.Ensure compliance with all departmental policies such as the data collection system, current administrative procedures and health and safety guidelinesBe familiar with and comply with Health and Safety Regulations & Protocols, relevant Safety Statement, professional guidelines and Core Standards of Practice. To be responsible for ensuring the general safety and maintenance of any equipment supplied for the fulfilment of his/her duties. To report immediately to the Physiotherapy Manager any defect in equipment or the environment, which might cause a hazardTo keep accurate written records on assessment, treatment outcomes and other information relevant to patients.To record and collate statistics including computer statistics to reflect work undertaken and provide data as required by the Physiotherapy Manager Must be aware of and adhere to legislation concerning:-Health and SafetyFreedom of Information Act 1997Childcare Act Eligibility Criteria:Candidates must, on the latest date for receiving completed applications, (a) Possess the Bachelor in Physiotherapy (Hons.) or B.Sc. Physiotherapy (Hons) degree from the National University of Ireland or University of DublinOr(b) Possess the Diploma in Physiotherapy of the University of Dublin or the National University of IrelandOr(c) Possess a qualification in Physiotherapy at least equivalent to (a) or (b) aboveOr(d) Be registered or be eligible for registration as a Physiotherapist by the Physiotherapist Registration Board at CORU.And(e) Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Physiotherapist Register maintained by the Physiotherapist Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Physiotherapist registermaintained by the Physiotherapist Registration Board at CORU Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to the HSE by way of the annual PatientSafety Assurance Certificate (PSAC)And(f) Have had at least three years satisfactory post qualification experience, some of which should be in the area of practice education.(g) Have CPD relevant to the area.
