 Job Title: Pharmacy AideDepartment: Pharmacy Reports to: Head of Pharmacy Services/Chief 2 Dispensary ManagerDate: 2024Overall Purpose of JobThe Pharmacy team is responsible for the provision of excellent pharmaceutical care to patients of the Beacon hospital. The purpose of this role is to assist the pharmacist and pharmacy technician in providing excellent pharmaceutical care to the patients of Beacon Hospital. The pharmacy aide will assist the pharmacy team in providing exceptional patient care in an environment where quality, respect, caring and compassion are at the centre of all we do.  Key Responsibilities and Deliverables-      The performance of all duties and responsibilities in line with all Pharmacy Department procedures and protocols, as well as hospital wide procedures.-      Process orders delivered to the Pharmacy Department in accordance with procedures and documentation requirements and having regard to special requirements such as maintenance of cold chain and handling of cytotoxic products.-      Process goods inwards, checking off orders, match with POs, liaising closely with senior purchasing technician. Executes accurate goods receiving and the tidy and timely processing of associated paperwork.-      Communicate discrepancies with orders to purchasing technician in a timely manner-      Scans all medications received in accordance with the falsified medicines directive (FMD). Manage and resolve FMD alerts. Inform senior technician of issues-      Check and document expiry dates of all incoming stock and bring short-dated stock to the attention of the Senior Technician in a timely manner. -      Ensure that Pharmacy shelves are neat, tidy, restocked and that stock is rotated.-      Ensure that all departmental and hospital wide Health and Safety protocols and procedures are adhered to and all areas of non-compliance are promptly addressed.-      Report shortages to the Senior Technician in a timely manner.-      Report low stock levels of medications to Senior Technician -      Supplementary labelling at goods inwards -      Management of delivery of specific stock items to wards. This includes picking and ensuring that it is ready for checking at the appropriate time. -      Delivery of MDAs and any other items as assigned.-      Perform day to day activities as assigned.-      Actively participates in general housekeeping duties in the pharmacy-      Participate in stock take -      Performs any and all other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Dispensary Manager or Senior Purchasing technician, taking on any extra projects as required. Person Specification QualificationsLeaving Certificate or equivalentBasic computer skillsBasic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel and e-mail) Experience 6-12 months similar experience ideally in a regulated environment desirable.  Job Specific Competencies and KnowledgeOrganisedNumerate Personal CompetenciesAll posts in Beacon Hospital require a high level of flexibility to ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient service. Therefore, the post holder will be required to demonstrate flexibility as and when required by their manager or hospital management.
