Part Time Swimming Teachers Level 1 & 2

PART TIME LEVEL 1 & 2 SWIMMING TEACHERS   DLR Leisure operates and manages 4 leisure facilities and 1 Golf Club on behalf of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council. The 4 centres are:1.    Loughlinstown2.    Monkstown3. Ballyogan4.    Meadowbrook 5.    Stepaside Golf Club JOB PURPOSETo deliver high quality, professional swimming coaching, teaching and instruction and to maintain associated records. All Swimming Teachers that dlr Leisure employ must hold a current RLSS or IWS Pool Lifeguard Qualification. The instructor has the responsibility for:- DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1.            Deliver effective swimming lessons and instruction programmes2.            The conduct and safety of the class whilst on the pool surround or in the water. This includes specific rules that apply to the centres pools. 3.            Fully understand and implement bather load capacity.4.            Supervising Level 1 Teachers where applicable.5.            Completes pool chemical tests and report results to Centre Manager/Duty Manager/Leisure Supervisor6.            Actively promote dlr Leisure Services to ensure classes are filled to an optimum level.7.            Operating to dlr Leisure Services Limited’s values in providing and promoting a high quality service.8.            Observing safe working practices to ensure the safety of all staff, customers, users and visitors.9.            Ensuring swimming lessons and all pool activities and sessions start and finish at the correct time.10.         Keeping qualifications current and up to date, to the required standard, through Continuing Professional Development (CPD)11.          Effective Communication with all members of staff and external customers and visitors.12.          Reporting any defective equipment or essential maintenance in accordance with operational procedures.13.          Strictly adhering to all policies relating to Health and Safety, Operational Procedures, and all policies and procedures contained in the Employee Handbook14.          Adhering to the direct instruction of the Leisure Centres Management Team in order to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Centre.15.          To deliver a pleasant and prompt service to customers, and in particular demonstrating a commitment to customer care and equal rights in their service delivery, in accordance with the policies of dlr Leisure Services Limited in performance of their duties.16.          To ensure that procedures relating to lost property, opening hours, duty rosters and other such matters are strictly observed.17.          To produce swimming lesson plans outlining skills progression and the review and assessment per term on each participant.  MINIMUM JOB REQUIRMENTS 1.    At least 2 year’s experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.2.    CPR Certified3.    Current certification as a Lifeguard by a recognized source of training – RLSS OR IWS4.    Current certification as Full Swimming Teacher Level 2 by a recognized source of training – IWS or Swim Ireland KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:·        Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.·        Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques.·        Ability to pass pre-employment physical skills evaluation as stipulated by the centre.·        Ability to prepare routine administrative paperwork.·        Knowledge of CPR and emergency medical procedures.·        Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.·        Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures. dlr Leisure are an equal opportunities employer.The successful candidate(s) will be subject to Garda Vetting prior to appointment. dlr Leisure reserves its right to shortlist candidates in the manner it deems most appropriate.Interested candidates should submit a detailed curriculum vitae and a covering letter to apply.Closing date for completed applications is 4:30 p.m. on Monday 1st November 2021.
