Our philosophy places the care of the resident at the heart of the nursing home.We are now hiring for a part time cover Maintenance Operative to provide Maintenance and General Operative support to our nursing home Beech Park Nursing Home, Dunmurry East, Kildare R51 PC58. The Maintenance / General Operative will support in all aspects of facilities management within the home. They will also have responsibility for ensuring that the upkeep of all areas of the home and grounds are maintained to a very high standard.Please note: this is a specific purpose cover contract. This is a part time role, up to 24 hours weekly with working days on Monday, Wednesday and Friday 8hrs daily, however the candidate needs to be flexible to attend on call and emergency matters also.The Maintenance / General Operative will have relevant experience working “hands on” within the facilities sector.The role requires the holder to be continuously vigilant towards the dignity, comfort and safety of residents in the nursing home.You are also required to continuously adhere to all hygiene, health and safety regulations.Key Responsibilities:Carry out day-to-day general maintenance and repairs across the nursing homeConduct routine inspections of equipment, fixtures, and fittingsEnsure heating, lighting, and plumbing systems are fully operationalRespond promptly to maintenance requests from staff and residentsUndertake painting, decorating, carpentry, and basic plumbing tasksCarry out any basic electrical work in accordance with your daily schedule and report any incidents to your managerAssist with external maintenance such as garden areas, paths, and signageMaintain records of work carried out and materials usedEnsure compliance with health & safety regulations and company policiesSupport with emergency situations (e.g. power failures, leaks)Liaise with external contractors and suppliers as neededRequirements:Previous experience in a general maintenance or handyman roleBasic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and carpentryStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailAbility to work independently and manage workload effectivelyUnderstanding of health & safety practicesA friendly and respectful attitude towards older people and team membersFlexibility to respond to urgent issues when requiredDesirable:Trade certification or vocational training (e.g. plumbing, electrical, etc.)Previous experience in a healthcare or care home environmentGreat benefits on offer:Meals providedPaid trainingFree parkingFlexible working hoursEducation & DevelopmentSummer & Christmas PartiesAccess to Pension Scheme#jobs
