Operations Technical Specialist This job description sets out the scope of the role of the Operations Technical Specialist with the main duties of the position at the date when it was completed. The post holder may also be required to carry out any other duties to co-operate with the general work of the organisation, as required by their line or department manager.Overview / Purpose of the RoleTechnical specialist reporting to the Operations Technical Manager. The successful candidate will form an integral part of the Operations Excellence team, providing efficient and effective operational support in a fast paced and busy environment. An experienced collaborator with a background in operational process and system design including implementation. The successful person will enjoy working as part of a team and will bring energy and commitment to their workplace. Working hours will be between the core hours of 8:30am – 5:30pm (37.5 hr week) Monday to Friday. Work outside these hours may be required on occasion. Key ResponsibilitiesEnsuring that all identified improvement activities, both process & systems based, are implemented in full and on time across all Business units.Play a key role in analysing system and process improvements with the warehouse teams in all depots.Act as Operational go to person for all system issues and lead root cause analysis relating to identified problems.Lead all testing activities from Low Volume Start Up routines relating to scheduled system transport activities to regression testing around major system upgrades.Actively seek out opportunities to improve efficiencies through cost and waste reduction.Increase the operations team’s understanding and skill set around EWM through ongoing communication and training.Be a key part of all operational projects and ensure that we actively engage and work with all relevant stakeholders to achieve optimal results.The Person:Thrive in a team environment.Proficient at trouble shooting within the EWM/ECC PlatformBe competent in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and PowerPointBe self-disciplined and have the ability to work to targets and deadlines.Have excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to share knowledge.Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, pressurised environment, both independently and as part of a team.Other duties not identified above may be requiredKey Experience / Skills / EducationAttention to detail with a high level of accuracyMinimum of 5 years’ experience working with EWM & ECC with proven troubleshooting capabilities.Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end warehouse operational processes.Demonstrated experience managing teams and driving performance.Exposure to Quality Management Systems and a clear understanding of GDP (Good Distribution Practice).Certificate/Degree in Business desirable – Business experience will also be consideredExperience leading or supporting operational projects, including stakeholder engagement and change management.About United DrugUnited Drug is Ireland’s largest pharmaceutical distribution company and was originally founded by a group of pharmacists in Ballina, Mayo in 1948.
