Occupational Health Nurse

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, flexible on work patterns, permanent contract Location: Blackrock Clinic, Blackrock, Co. Dublin, Ireland Company Profile and Role OverviewBlackrock Clinic have an opportunity for an Occupational Health (OH) Nurse to join our expanding team. The role holder’s primary focus will be overseeing case and risk management, health surveillance and promotion including health assessments, Immune status evaluation and vaccinations. The OH Nurse Specialist will also participate and provide advice/ input into committees such as IPCC, Health & Safety, Infectious Diseases, accreditation, and Quality. The role holder will need to form strong working relationships with Senior Management, Department Heads, HR team and current OH Physicians (Medmark). As part of the team there are opportunities to move between all areas within the unit and full training is provided.Job ResponsibilitiesHealth Assessment, Illness and Injury·      Pre-employment/pre-placement health assessments·      Assessment of employees involved in exposure prone procedures·      Rehabilitation and return to work evaluations·      Management of employees potentially exposed to blood borne viruses·      Management of reported occupational injuries/illnesses (non-blood borne virus)Immune Status Evaluation and Vaccination·      Hepatitis B, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella & TB·      Influenza Vaccination·      COVID19 VaccinationCase Management / OH Assessment of cases such as:·      Long term sick and frequent short term absence·      Stress related issues·      Pregnancy related absenceRisk Managemento  All risk assessments as required e.g.> Pregnancy risk assessment > Ergonomic risk assessment in conjunction with H&S officero  Follow up of adverse occurrencesHealth Surveillance and Health Promotion·      Develop policies and participate in initiatives designed to inform, educate, train and advise workers about health issues at work ·      Support, advise and referral on work/life issues·      Night workers health assessments·      Provision of health and safety advise as appropriateOccupational Input as required, including·      IPCC Committee and any other as required·      Health and Safety Committee·      Attend Employee Forum·      Accreditation·      Quality Improvement InitiativesOH Administration·      Develop and maintain adequate and confidential records and reports on all services rendered·      Provide statistical reports in relation to the Occupational Health activities. ·      Maintain and perform audits e.g. of occupational injuries / illnesses etc, effectiveness of service delivery. Professional Responsibilities·      You must practice within the Codes of Practice, Rules and Guidelines set out by the Nursing and Midwifery board of Ireland (NMBI) and comply with the policies and procedures of Blackrock Clinic. Personally and professionally, you are accountable to the patient.
