Non Consultant Hospital Doctor (NCHD)

Overview of Role:  We are currently recruiting for the position of NCHD at UPMC Auteven Hospital.Full IMC registration and immediate start required. Duties & Responsibilities:The post holder will work with all members of the multidisciplinary team, medical and non-medical to provide a seamless service for patientsDiagnose and treat patients under the direction of the consultant surgical and medical staff.Will document patients’ assessment, history and physical on admission and write appropriate follow up comments in case notes in line with the Assessment of Patient Policy. Will conduct daily re-assessment on in-patients as advised by the consultant and or nursing staff.Whilst on duty will conduct three hourly ward visits to address any non emergency requests by the Nursing or Multidisciplinary team.To carry a Dect Phone at all times while on duty and to response to each call in an efficient manner.Assist the Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in theatres and in emergencies assist in other theatres as requiredWork as part of the Pre Assessment serviceOrder and interpret diagnostic tests as clinically requiredInitiate and monitor treatment as clinically appropriate and safe Carry out clinical procedures as requested by Consultantsi administer IV drugsii cannulate/site IV lines iii venopunctureiv catheterise male patientsv ECGsLead nursing staff in emergency/cardiac arrest proceduresDiscuss care with patients and relatives as appropriateTo ensure discharge summaries are completed as per Discharge Policy requested by consultants and or nursing staff.Further own knowledge of diagnosis and managementParticipate in programmes of research, education and trainingAbility to access policies on Q-Pulse and to log incidents as required. Medication Management:Will work in line with all Medication Policies relevant to your role. Will verify patient’s current medication on admissionWill compare this to the original prescription order Will verify all prescribed medication.   Qualifications & Experience:Applicants must be fully registered with Medical Council of Ireland.Up to date certification in ACLS and PALSStrong communication and interpersonal skillsEvidence of continuing professional development Sufficient medical diagnostic and surgical experience and the capability to fulfil the functions of the post About UPMC    A $26 billion healthcare provider and insurer, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania-based UPMC is inventing new models of patient-centred, cost-effective, accountable care.
