National Symphony Orchestra (NSO) – Assistant Orchestra Manager

Job Title: Assistant Orchestra Manager (AOM) Grade: Executive Officer Reports to: Orchestra Manager, reporting to General Manager NSO  Role Location: National Concert Hall, Dublin. Due to the nature of this role considerable travel will be required on an ongoing basis to accommodate the orchestra and its programming commitments together with other business requirements both nationally and touring overseas. Purpose:The National Symphony Orchestra performs over seventy events per annum including approximately 30 subscription seasons symphonic concerts (September through May) at the National Concert Hall in Dublin. In addition NSO produces broadcasts, film and audio recordings as well as seasonal and educational concerts. The Assistant Orchestra Manager (AOM) is responsible to the Orchestra Manager, assisting in the day-to-day management of the players and associated orchestral support team. He or she will assist in managing the personnel systems of the Orchestra and assist in the running of rehearsals, concerts, and recording sessions in Ireland and overseas. The AOM deputise for the OM in appropriate circumstances.  Main Responsibilities:  To book extra and deputy players for all NSO dutiesTo assist in managing personnel systemsTo support in the co-ordination of the day to day running of the orchestraTo assist in the stage management of concerts, rehearsals, recordings and eventsTo support in the organisation of logisticsLiaise with venues, conductors, other NCH divisions and relevant third partiesTo attend all rehearsals, concerts, performances and events in Ireland and abroad Conditions Unsocial working hours are an integral part of this job. The job is based at the National Concert Hall. Travel required for rehearsal/performance venues within Dublin and throughout Ireland and occasionally internationally.   Qualifications Third level in Music; an additional business or arts administration qualification is desirable.  Experience 2-3 years in a music organisation - ideally orchestralFixing experience - ideally with a large ensemble Skills ·      Proficient in MS suite·      Strong organisational ability and attention to detail. ·      Ability to work effectively under pressure, as part of a small team. ·      Self-motived and able to multi-task.  PayThe Executive Officer salary scale applies as follows; Personal Pension Contribution (PPC):33,149 – 35,014 – 36,067 – 38,122 – 39,964 – 41,745 – 43,521 – 45,259 – 47,015 –48,722 – 50,482 – 51,659 – LSI 1 53,336 – LSI 2 55,026  The PPC pay scale will apply where the appointee is an existing civil or public servant appointed on or after 6th April 1995 and is required to make a personal pension contribution.
