Histology Typist         Working Hours:   37 WTE      Location: Blackrock, Dublin                             Summary: We need a skilled typist for important medical work in Blackrock Clinic. Blackrock Clinic is the leading and longest established private hospital and clinic in Ireland. Since it opened in the mid-1980s, the Clinic has consistently built an unparalleled reputation in new high-tech surgical procedures, medical treatments and ground-breaking diagnostics. We are currently looking for a medical typist in the Histology department. What is histology?Histology is the branch of biology that studies the microscopic anatomy of biological tissues. Histopathology is the branch of histology that includes the microscopic identification and study of diseased tissue. It is an important part of accurate diagnosis of cancer and other diseases from examination of tissue samples. What is a histology typist’s main role? This role is required to be an efficient and effective typist primarily with good speed and accuracy. You will need good computer skills especially with packages such as Word and Excel. The typing will be in the WinPath Laboratory Information System (LIS). Another part of the positions is the retrieval, packaging and transportation of slides and blocks for MDM, review and further testing, both internally and for external institutions.  Filing of slides and blocks and management of the overdue logs for the LIS. You will also have contact with professional groups, working together to meet the needs of the patients and consultants. If you are a skilled typist and ready for the fascinating world of histology and the medical impacts that this work can have on patients, then this is a great role for you.
