Medical Scientist Staff Grade (Fixed Term, 12 months, Full time) Microbiology (Under the Governance of Mercy University Hospital Cork CLG.) Responsibilities -Report to the Chief Medical Scientist or the designated senior staff when required e.g. Senior Medical Scientist or Deputy to Chief Medical Scientist.Participate in the implementation of a ‘Quality Management’ programme.Participate in quality assurance activities.Operation of automated testing systems, maintenance of equipment, validation of testing kits, preparation of samples for testing, recording and reporting of resultsActively participate in and promote continuing education and research activities consistent with the position assigned or as assigned by the Mercy University Hospital.To be responsible for the quality of their work and carry out their duties in accordance with the Board’s policy.Participate in the computer integrated management system of the laboratory. Ability to make rational calm decisions. Skills at diagnosis, especially skills of deduction.High level of commitment to tasks undertaken in a quality environment.Must be able to prioritise their work to meet the demands of differing timelines and be able to work on their own where and when this is required.Must demonstrate flexibility to work in a demand driven environment, enthusiasm, adaptability and a willingness to co-operateGood computer skillsExperience of working in a Medical Microbiology laboratory is desirable.
