Job Title: Learning & Participation Executive (Young People and Families / Schools and Teachers)  Responsible to: Learning & Participation Manager  Place of Work: Based in the National Concert Hall (NCH) in Dublin but is expected to attend events, meetings, and briefings, as appropriate, wherever there is expected to be an NCH L&P presence. Overall Purpose The Learning & Participation (L&P) Executive provides key support to the Head of L&P and the L&P Manager and plays an important role in both the development and delivery of the L&P programme. Working as part of the L&P team, the L&P Executive role includes elements of event management, departmental administration, departmental planning, and project management. The L&P Executive supports the L&P functions within NCH to contribute to organisational targets and to implement the NCH’s L&P activity. This role will focus on L&P projects in the Young People & Families, and Schools & Teachers work programmes, though duties in other work streams may also be assigned as required.  Key Responsibilities Event management Liaising with artists and facilitators, internal operations and coordinating with other NCH departments, publicity coordination, and the running of events on the ground both at the NCH and offsite where appropriate. Departmental administration  Budget administration, invoicing, coordination of event feedback and evaluation systems, handling general enquiries, and dealing with day-to-day administrative duties. Departmental planning Contributing to programme planning with the Head of L&P and L&P Manager in line with departmental strategic objectives. Project management The supervised management of certain agreed projects of a central importance to the L&P programme, the responsibility for which is commensurate with the level of seniority of the role. This role will focus on projects in the Young People and Families, and Schools and Teachers programmes, though projects in other work streams may also be assigned. Organisational Requirements To maintain the NCH’s high standard of customer care across all areas of organisational activity To use IT and digital applications to service the post’s administrative needs To work towards the achievement of the NCH’s organisational goals  Remain up to date with, and aware of, developments within the NCH and its work. As the post requires handling, processing and recording of restricted information, confidentiality is required at all times. Capability Profile Essential 2+ years’ experience working in the arts and cultural sector. Experience in event management, including budget management, in the cultural sector. Understanding of the world of music, across a variety of genres. Understanding of the benefits of musical engagement for personal and societal development, particularly relating to Young People and Families, and Schools and Teachers programmes, Educated to third level ideally with a specific focus on music and/or education. Excellent written communications skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop strong relationships. A high level of spoken and written English language proficiency. Exceptional attention to detail in administrative and project management. A self-starter, able to thrive in a demanding environment and foster cross. departmental collaboration with other NCH functions. Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to overcome obstacles by seeking alternative solutions. Excellent decision making and prioritisation capabilities.  Desirable Experience working in music for young people, schools and teachers. Experience working in the education sector. Experience dealing with members of the public in an arts and culture, or services context.  Pay: The Executive Officer salary scale applies (rates effective from 1 October 2022) as follows: Personal Pension Contribution (PPC): 33,149 – 35,014 – 36,067 – 38,122 – 39,964 – 41,745 – 43,521 – 45,259 – 47,015 –48,722 – 50,482 – 51,659 – LSI 1 53,336 – LSI 2 55,026 The PPC pay scale will apply where the appointee is an existing civil or public servant appointed on or after 6th April 1995 and is required to make a personal pension contribution. It will also apply to new permanent employees and fixed term un-established employees. Please note that appointment will be made at the first point on this salary scale.  The annual leave entitlement is 21 days per annum. Your normal working hours can fall as 39 hours per week. You may from time to time be required to work overtime, including weekends, depending on the requirements of your work.
