Laboratory Process Technician

We have an exciting opportunity for an energetic and enthusiastic person to join our Operations team on a fixed term basis for a Laboratory Process Technician. The position will be based in Kinsale WWTP Wastewater Treatment Plant.Responsibilities: Optimisation work in drinking water and wastewater processesWorking with Mechanical and/or electrical items of equipmentProcess monitoring and completing record sheets and taking process samplesLaboratory work. Laboratory tests include BOD, COD, suspended solids, turbidity and other standard water and wastewater analysis techniquesRole ranges from process control and monitoring to basic mechanical maintenanceData analysis and generation of technical reports. The role requires a good knowledge of software packages such as Word and ExcelCompliance monitoring of contractual & water discharge licence emission limit values as well as other environmental monitoring such as odour and noiseMaintenance of analysis schedules including liaising with site operators and external laboratoriesOrdering equipment, chemicals and other consumablesManual work may be required from time to timeThe role requires work outside on occasions in all weather conditionsFlexibility with hours of work is vital for this roleRequirements: Experience in wastewater treatment plant and/or drinking water treatment plant environmentLaboratory testing backgroundAbility to plan, prioritise and effectively manage time, meet strict deadlines and work to high standard, both on own initiative and as part of a teamAdvanced PC skills such as Excel and WordExcellent verbal and written communication skillsFull clean driving licenceThird level qualification in environmental science, chemistry or related subject
