Junior Exhibit/Industrial Designer

This position includes conceptualizing and designing projects across various industries: trade show exhibits, museum/interpretive centres, experiential activations, retail, non-profit, corporate and more.Our company offers full in-house design, fabrication and installation services; we are looking for someone who is creative, energetic, hands-on and enthusiastic about working within a collaborative work environment. You will work closely with our design and fabrication teams, communicating your ideas to deliver innovative and functional design ideas for branded experiences, which integrate structural, graphic and digital elements. We want people who see every project as a creative challenge to exceed our clients' expectations. Responsibilities:Full-time 40-hour work week, paid hourlyReview project details and client requirements provided by the Art Director/Project ManagerDevelop concept sketches, and communicate ideas with the Art Director and design teamDevelop concept packages and/or provide assets to communicate design ideas to the clientCreate 3D models and renderings to illustrate the design idea(s) and ensure fabricated displays are structurally sound and visually pleasingDevelop shop drawings for internal and external production teamsSet up CNC files for productionsCommunicate specification requirements for the graphic designer (internal/external)Edit 3D models and shop drawings based on feedback from the Art Director, client, and/or production teamsSource materials and hardware for exhibit elementsInform the Project Manager of completed tasks and communicate with the team of any changesCandidate Requirements:B.Des or B.A. degree, preferably in exhibit design/industrial design1-3 years experience with exhibit/industrial designIdeation and sketching capabilities, with contemporary aesthetic and storytelling skillsPassionate about innovative ideas, with a desire to develop design skills and learn new tools, techniques and abilitiesUnderstanding of basic millwork construction techniquesStrong spatial visualization and orthographic skills to understand architectural drawingsWell-versed in 3D CAD and rendering software (Rhino, Solidworks, Keyshot)Capable of using Adobe CS programs (Illustrator, InDesign & Photoshop)Ability to work both independently and collaborate with other team membersDesire to bring forth and explore new ideas in a collaborative setting, with an understanding of mock-up/prototype methodsWilling to take constructive criticism from clients and the design team to further develop design ideas and skill setsAble to use various communication software (Google Meets, Zoom, Teams, etc.)Able to learn project management software to update task/project status (Google Chat, Monday.com)Proven ability to produce high-quality, detailed work within tight timelinesGood organizational skills with the ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks and requests and meet deadlines in a professional mannerGood listening skills to understand client requirements and design changes from the design teamMust possess a professional and positive attitudeBenefits:Casual dressCompany eventsDental careExtended health careLife insuranceOn-site parkingPaid time offSchedule:8-hour shiftMonday to FridayOvertimeAbility to commute/relocate:Calgary, AB T2H 2L9: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)Work location is at our office in-personExperience:Design: 1-3 yearsApplication instructions:To apply, please submit your resume, cover letter, and portfolio.
