Job Title: Junior Chef de PartieDepartment: CateringReports to: Head Chef /Sous Chefs/ Catering Management Team.Date: 2024Overall Purpose of JobWe will provide exceptional patient care in an environment where quality, respect, caring and compassion are at the centre of all we do.Helps the department achieve it’s goal of providing optimal nutritional care and highest standard of meal service to hospital patients by performing the following duties. Key Responsibilities and DeliverablesFollow HACCP guidelines and ensure that all the necessary information are being recorded accurately and efficiently.Observes infection control and HACCP policies in food handling storage, wearing gloves and proper protective equipment. Properly prepare all food, adhering to all HACCP guidelines as laid out in the food safety manual and diet requirements. Cooks food in quantities according to menu, and number of persons to be served. Follows recipes.Following all Allergen guidelines and preparing meals in a safe method in relation to allergen awareness.Monitor and control portions to minimize waste levels in the kitchen.Shows a clear willingness and eagerness to develop skills that will allow you to work across all area’s of the kitchen including pastry/sandwich & salad and hot food sides.Follows all health and safety procedures, handling of equipment, Manual Handling techniques, fire and disaster plan, SDS/chemical safety and universal precautions and report any issues.Cleans and sanitises work areas using appropriate solutions and techniques.Prepares, serves and delivers food for catered functions, meeting departmental quality standards as outlined by Head Chef/Sous Chef/CMT.Complete any reasonable request from Head Chef, Sous Chefs or Catering Management TeamAssist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in creating and implementing new menu ideasAssist with monitoring that stock levels are adequate at all times and completing orders when necessary. Must have a proven track record of being able to manage one’s own section, and also assist other areas of the kitchen if free.Knows and follows hospital policies, procedures and practices in compliance with legislations and JCI requirements.Undertake any other duties relevant to the post as assigned from time to time.Person SpecificationQualifications  Professional catering qualification is desirable, however candidates with a proven track record in previous roles will be considered.ExperienceA minimum of 1 year relevant experience in a similar kitchen role.Job Specific Competencies and KnowledgeObserves all infection control & HACCP policies for proper food handling, storage, hand washing, glove wearing, uniform and grooming. Works as team player to meet goals and department demands. Exhibits high level of customer / patient relation skills.Exhibits ability to work as member of team in daily performance of duties.Interaction with all hospital departments.Personal CompetenciesAbility to work well as part of a team.Must be able to remain calm under pressure.A good level of English is required.Ability to manage time exceptionally well.All posts in Beacon Hospital require a high level of flexibility to ensure the delivery of an effective and efficient service.
