The Information Compliance/Data Protection Executive will sit in the Governance and Procurement Department and support the Senior Information Compliance Officer/Data Protection Officer (DPO). The Governance & Procurement Department is responsible for managing the compliance activities of the Authority and includes Information Compliance, Legal, Internal Audit and Risk Management, Procurement and Grants Compliance. The successful candidate will provide support to the DPO/ Senior Information Compliance Officer on all areas of information compliance in a fast-moving environment and working to demanding deadlines. They will play a key role in supporting SEAI’s Data Protection Officer in further embedding the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the Authority and in monitoring compliance with the Authority’s obligations under data protection legislation. In addition, the successful candidate will also provide support on SEAI’s other compliance obligations across a diverse framework, including, Freedom of Information, Access to Information on the Environmentand Ombudsman Complaints. Essential RequirementsThe successful candidate must: A degree (a minimum of NFQ Level 7 or greater) in a relevant discipline such as such as Legal, Business, or Information Systems.Minimum of 3 years’ directly relevant experience working with and implementing duties pertaining to Information Compliance functions (e.g., Data Protection Acts, Freedom of Information Acts, Ombudsman Acts or equivalent).Knowledge of Data Protection and Freedom of Information legislation and regulations, and the practicalities of implementation.Excellent communication (written and oral) skills, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly, both internally and externally.Excellent project management and organisation skills and knowledge of business process management.Demonstrated ability to work to conflicting deadlines and priorities.Desirable RequirementsKnowledge of information compliance across the public sector and in line with EU requirements.Experience of data protection from a business and information systems perspective.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently under general supervision.Ability to exercise good judgment.Eligibility to WorkThe SEAI has a legal obligation to ensure that all employees are lawfully entitled to work in Ireland. To qualify, candidates must hold a valid visa on the date of application and where applicable to support a candidate’s application, candidates must submit a valid work permit/visa confirming permission to work in Ireland when requested.
