Health Care Assistant- Children ServicesPermanent 19.5-week contract Saint John of God Community Services, Dublin South East Services are now inviting applications for the post of Health Care Assistant in Children Services, This role involves supporting children in after school programmes - based in St Augustine’s, Blackrock. Dublin South East provides a network of education, training, employment, respite and community living supports to children and adults with intellectual disabilities in South Dublin.This is an exciting opportunity to join a renowned service in the intellectual disability sector. We are funded by the HSE and as such the role is within the public service and subject to annual increments, generous annual leave, and pensions. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, flexible, innovative, and committed to providing a quality service that responds to the needs and priorities of our service users.Role SummaryThe role involves supporting children with an after-school programme and to support young children in their daily living as well as to identify and develop skills. Minimum RequirementsA recognised and relevant qualification (QQI Level 5) or above, or equivalent is required e.g. Social Care/ Training/Education/Teaching etc. Experience· Experience of working with children who have an intellectual disability (additional support needs).· The ability to support and facilitate young people to interact and positively engage.· An awareness of Positive Behaviour Supports desirable.· Excellent communication, interpersonal, innovative, resourceful, flexible and have administrative and co-ordination skills.· The ability to work both in a busy team environment and independently.· Knowledge of relevant national legislation, policy and standards e.g. HIQA and TUSLA.· A flexible approach to work in different environments and locations within Children’s Services.· A Full Irish Driver’s License. RemunerationSalary Grade - Healthcare Assistant Disability Services DOH 6482 €32,699 - €45,984LocationThe location of this role is Blackrock Co. Dublin. However, you may be required, from time to time, to work at SJOG other places of business or/and the premises of such associated s companies or organisations as SJOG CS may require.
