Head Greenkeeper

Reporting to the Group General Manger and the Director of Golf, the Head Greenkeeper is entrusted with overseeing the day-to-day maintenance and operations of the golf course and course maintenance team. You will be responsible for implementing the Agronomic plan for the course according to the guidelines set out by Palmerstown House Estate. Duties & ResponsibilitiesPlan, monitor, evaluate and manage golf course maintenance in accordance with Palmerstown House Estates Guidelines for Standards and Presentation.Plan all maintenance work, applying his or her agronomic and administrative expertise to achieve the objectives set out in the agronomic program.Communicate regularly with the team to discuss activities, goals, plans and member/golfer inputKeep accurate and complete records of agronomy plan and its implementation.Manage the use of resources for the implementation of the agronomic plan.Oversee the scheduling and routing of personnel and equipment to accomplish the work identified in the agronomic plan and identify and report on weekly task lists.The Head Greenkeeper will inspect the golf course and related areas daily to evaluate how well management standards are being achieved and communicate any issues to the the Group General Manger and the Director of GolfManage and maintain a healthy and safe workplace in accordance with the Club’s guidelines.Train equipment operators on the operation and care of mowing and other equipment.Supervise chemical and fertilizer applications and/or operate and calibrate pesticide and fertilizer application equipment.Supervise and participate in the operation and maintenance of pumps, and in the maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems.Manage the performance of the team by identifying training and development needs. Liaise and work closely with the Director of Golf and the Golf Team. Typical Maintenance TasksAssist with preparing the course for daily play.Bunker maintenance, strimming, edging and weedingCut and trim golf course greens, tees, fairways and roughs and approaches.Moving of holes on the greens.General tidy up of grounds i.e. leaf blowingPruning and maintenance of shrubs and treesAdministration and control of pesticides, herbicides and fungicides Machinery·      Set up machinery , servicing and general maintenance Supervisory Responsibility Take responsibility for managing the team including their performance and any training requirements. Responsible for the management of Health & Safety requirements. Create an annual plan for planned course work and additional projects per season. Manage suppliers and oversee budget requirements for machinery, equipment and any other materials required.
