Position: General Manager (Full-Time, Permanent)Location: Hoban Hotel Kilkenny The Hoban Hotel Kilkenny are recruiting for a General Manager to lead and management the team.Our HotelFormerly known as the Aspect Hotel Kilkenny, the hotel is now named after James Hoban, a pioneering architect who was born in Kilkenny in 1755 and went on to design and build America’s White House. It has become a contemporary open plan space which is smart and comfortable while incorporating rich, deep colours paired with statement pieces like trendy light fixtures and bold patterns. Our 1801 Restaurant starts the morning off with a breakfast buffet that has something for everyone. We also serve brunch and lunch, offering the freshest and most sumptuous sweet treats, salads, soups and sandwiches. We’ve put a lot of thought into our new menu where everything is freshly made and cooked to order and has been designed to satisfy every palette. We source local produce which is fully traceable. You’ll never run out of things to do with so much on offer across Ireland’s ancient east. The RoleWe seek a skilled General Manager to lead the super team within the property. You will be responsible for the day to day management of Hotel operations. You will be standards driven having the ability to implement and maintain hotel standards and have the ability to work on own initiative and demonstrate excellent customer care and people management skills. Responsibilities will include: Financial:To achieve or improve on the hotel’s budgeted financial plan by driving sales, controlling costs and managing expenditure.Achieving sales targets as agreed.Controlling stocks to assist in achieving budgeted gross profit margins and net margins.Monitoring and controlling overheads and operating costs in line with budgeted figures.Monitoring and completing expenditure requests ensuring purchase orders are completed in line with company policy and procedure.Liaising with accounts regarding accounting procedure and guest accounts.Monitoring wage forecasts and ensuring that expenditure on wages is in line with budget and sales forecasts.Weekly reporting to COO for PREM Group IrelandFully utilising PREM Group support services in sales, marketing, revenue management, HR, finance & IT to achieve the strategic goals for the Hoban Hotel Kilkenny . Operations:Ensuring the Management Team is trained appropriately and in accordance with company and legislative standards.Ensuring the presentation of each department of the hotel is in accordance with company standards.Encouraging a good working relationship with all staff and with the local community.Holding regular communication meetings with management and staff.Developing members of staff and the management team through the use of performance reviews, training, development and promotion.Leading by example and taking responsibility for day to day operational decisionsShowing awareness of the daily business of the hotel and communicating details of this business to each department.Availing of opportunities to promote hotel facilities both internally and externally.Encouraging guest feedback to ensure guest satisfaction and the improvement of service.Participating in the recruitment and selection of new employees. This is an exciting opportunity to join a hotel that is managed by PREM Group, one of Europe’s leading hotel management companies.
