Job TitleFunded Research - Programme ManagerSalary€78,303 pa (Other arrangements may apply if coming directly from another civil or public service body)Tenure5-year fixed term contractWork LocationDublin, Dundalk, Cork or SligoClosing DateMidnight, Wednesday 7th August 2024Role ProfileWe have an exciting opportunity in the Funded Research Team/Unit in the Research, Innovation & Electricity Department.  SEAI’s roles and responsibilities in respect of research and innovation are mandated in the Sustainable Energy Act 2002 and include coordinating, promoting, and assisting research, development and demonstration of technologies related to sustainable energy.  The Department includes teams in the areas of Research & Innovation, Offshore Energy, Electricity & Wind, and International Research. The team is composed primarily of analytical and technical experts from engineering, science or similar technical backgrounds who are focused on enabling and/or developing solutions to the challenge of decarbonising Ireland’s energy system. The dynamic Funded Research team contribute to the Department’s objectives via the National Energy Research, Development and Demonstration Funding Programme Annual Calls, collating national data on a publicly available repository, enabling energy funded research dissemination such as through an annual conference, seminar series, national energy funding coordination and working closely with colleagues across the Department, across SEAI organisation, government departments and the EU. This position will play a key role in the Research, Innovation & Electricity Department. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and innovative team who are committed to the high-quality delivery of SEAI’s Research, Development & Demonstration (RD&D) Programme. The successful candidate will report to the Head of Research, Innovation & Electricity, and will line manage a team (currently six). Essential RequirementsThe successful candidate must be able to demonstrate:A Postgraduate qualification in a relevant energy-related area or have significant research experience. A minimum of five years of experience working in a related area.Management experience in a research environment in the public sector, academia, or industry and/or managing public-funded research. Experience of managing a team and staff development.Strong project management and organisation skills and knowledge of business process management.Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences, including engaging a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.Proven attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.Excellent team-player skills and flexibility.An understanding of energy-related research and policy priorities both nationally and internationally. Desirable RequirementsQualification at PhD level.Knowledge/ Experience of working in the public sector.Experience of working in a funding agency authority.Excellent understanding of energy-related research and policy priorities both nationally and internationally.Demonstrated ability to think strategically. Experience of change management.Eligibility to WorkThe SEAI has a legal obligation to ensure that all employees are lawfully entitled to work in Ireland.
