Following completion of the interview and skills assessment candidates will undergo a thorough background check process consisting of a physical health examination, drug testing, criminal background checks, driving history check, prior employment verification, reference checks, and professional certification & education verification.The job duties of a of Firefighter are highly demanding and require the candidate to remain up to date on their knowledge, skills, and abilities as they related to the fields of fire prevention and emergency medicine. Candidates in this position can expect a daily schedule consisting of responding to emergency situations and calls related to fire prevention or containment and emergency medical response, training to ensure service provided is following the latest procedures and guidelines are being followed, and equipment check to ensure every apparatus is ready to go at a moments notice. The Orange City Fire Department covers incorporated and unincorporated Orange City, as well as the City of DeBary, operating out of 3 Fire Stations.
