Tateetra and Rathmore Farms - Dundalk, Co. Louth, A91 F729We are looking for a dedicated and hardworking Suckler Farm Labourer to join our team on a full-time basis. This role is essential in supporting the day-to-day operations of our suckler farm, ensuring the health and welfare of our cattle, and maintaining the farm infrastructure. Key Responsibilities:Livestock Care:· Assist with the daily care of the suckler herd, including feeding, watering, and ensuring their overall well-being.· Help with the management of calving and ensure newborn calves receive proper care.· Monitor cattle for signs of illness and promptly report any issues to the Farm Manager.Fencing and Infrastructure:· Maintain and repair farm fences, gates, and other infrastructure as needed.· Assist in the construction of new infrastructure when required.· Ensure safe and efficient handling facilities for cattle.Equipment Operation:· Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment, including tractors, loaders, and feeders.· Safely handle and store agricultural chemicals and fertilizers.· Report any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs to the Farm Manager.Feeding and Nutrition:· Assist in feeding operations, including mixing and distributing feed rations.· Ensure feed storage areas are organized, clean, and safe.· Follow feeding protocols and guidelines as directed.Record Keeping:· Maintain accurate records related to cattle care, feeding, and other farm activities.· Assist in record-keeping tasks such as inventory management and cattle health records.General Farm Maintenance:· Participate in general farm maintenance tasks, including cleaning and organizing farm buildings and equipment.· Assist with waste management and disposal in accordance with environmental regulations.Team Collaboration:· Work closely with the Farm Manager and other team members to achieve daily farm goals.· Provide support during busy seasons, such as calving or harvesting.Safety and Compliance:· Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations on the farm to prevent accidents and injuries.· Stay informed about and comply with all relevant farm policies. Qualifications:· Previous experience working on a farm, especially with cattle, is preferred but not required.· Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.· Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.· Basic mechanical skills for minor equipment maintenance and repairs.· Physical fitness and stamina to perform tasks that may involve lifting, bending, and carrying heavy objects.· A valid driver's license is required.· Availability to work weekends and provide night-time cover is essential.
