We are currently seeking to recruit an Environmental Scientist to join us here at Aqua Consultants. The individual will contribute ideas and their specialist environmental skills, knowledge and experience to improve the functioning of the team, services therefore contributing to our three-year business strategy – Mission25.The role therefore offers the chance for real autonomy, challenge and fulfilment by simultaneously shaping their own career whilst contributing meaningful change at an organisational level.Location(s):We operate a hybrid working model, the role can be based at any of our offices (Leeds, Birmingham, Bradford, Exeter) combined with working from client locations and home. You may be required to travel to client offices 2-3 days a week.Sector: Predominantly working within the Water industry but may cover wider utilities and infrastructure.Skills and experience:Essential –2+ years of experience of water-environmental management in the water or other asset owning sectors.A water-environmental related degree (undergraduate and or postgraduate)Working knowledge and evidenced application in at least one of the following discipline and deliverable areas: environmental regulation, environmental assessments, environmental compliance of engineering and infrastructure design and delivery schemes, biodiversity net gain, natural capital accounting, nature-based solutions, blue-green infrastructure, catchment management, natural flood management, carbon accounting.An understanding of interacting disciplines such as Asset Management, Engineering, Commercial and Strategic Advisory and some experience of working within a multidisciplinary teamProficient with geospatial mapping (qGIS, ArcGIS etc)Computer literate with Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint.Experience of communication, report writing, presentation and interpersonal skillsExperience delivering in a client-facing capacity.Experience of working with environmental and economic regulators (EA, NE, Ofwat).Experience of creativity, problem solving and working with ambiguity.Experience of the ability to organise, manage and prioritise work with or without supervision, in order to meet tight deadlines and deliver well-planned work schedules in a fast-paced (consultancy or equivalent) environment.An appropriate level membership of a professional organisation such as CIWEM or IEMAActively working towards Chartership level (CEnv and/or C.WEM)Hold a full UK driving licence.Desirable –Experience of working within other regulated or non-regulated built and natural asset management organisations (renewables and energy, highways, rail etc).Demonstrable experience producing content, thought leadership or leadership and management experience to relevant outlets or groups (e.g professional organisation committees, special interest groups, community groups journals, magazines etc).Technical proficiency in a relevant water-environment-sustainability method/tool/technique/assessment.Application and interest in overlapping opportunity areas of Environmental Sustainability and Data & Digital Transformation.CORE RESPONSIBILITIES*Please note this is not an exhaustive list but gives a flavour of the work to be undertaken*This is a consultant level role and it is likely the post holder will be seconded into one of Aqua’s clients on a part time or full time basis on an occasional or permanent basis.Key responsibilities include;Complete qualitative and quantitative environmental tasks and activities as directed by senior individual(s) to time, cost and qualityContribute to the production of environmental deliverables issued to clients to time, cost and quality.Liaise with project teams, clients, stakeholders and the public as required.Develop and maintain strong client relationships.Contribute to the development of the environmental services, offerings and team development.Contribute to and centralise within our SharePoint systems, environmental information and data.Attend and contribute to internal company and external client meetings.Contribute to business development activities including but not limited to: bids, proposals, tenders, marketing and publicity content.Supervising work/deliverables and mentoring of junior colleagues as and when required.Represent the business according to the Aqua Values when attending conferences, networking, training and other events.Understand how your role directly contributes to Aqua’s 3 Year Strategy –Mission25Work and act in a way that aligns to the Aqua Consultants Behaviours ModelWhy Aqua Consultants?We are a fast growing organisation with highly experienced staff at the heart of everything we do.
