We are recruiting for Environmental Consultants throughout the UK at all grades ranging from Graduate Environmental Consultant to Principal Environmental Consultant.The post holder will utilise their technical knowledge of contaminated land consultancy, to carry out environmental investigation, assessment, reporting and remediation verification whilst carrying our project management duties as part of a regional delivery team.Most of our roles are home-based, with core hours on a full-time basis of 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday. Regular attendance to sites and offices is required and there may be a need for the postholder to satisfy overtime requirements. Occasional overnight stays away from home may be required dependent on work location and business demands at the time.Key tasks and accountabilities will vary with each role, with overall responsibility increasing with senior positions. A non-exhaustive outline of tasks associated with our Environmental Consultant roles are provided below: Delivery of environmental consultancy services and project management of environmental incidents and planned investigations to support clients with the management of their assets.Arranging and supervising emergency response works, geotechnical and environmental site investigations and remediation strategies to deal with contamination in the environment.Liaison with stakeholders at all stages of the project lifecycle including clients, contractors, and homeowners.Collection of field data, including soil, groundwater and vapour samples for subsequent laboratory analysis. Logging of soils during investigations to a high standard and in accordance with best practicePreparing health, safety and environmental documentation including risk assessments and method statements along with reporting of H&S near misses and positive observations.Production of factual and interpretive environmental reports, which are technically sound and commercially focused, to include risk assessment and conceptual site models (CSMs). Demonstrating a commitment to ensuring consistently high levels of safety, technical robustness, commercial awareness, organisation, and customer satisfactionUndertaking quality assurance and safety performance auditsParticipating in business development activities as a technical advisor and managing key clientsPerson Specification: All applicants are expected to hold a degree in a relevant earth science or geo-environmental discipline. The skills, knowledge, and experience listed below are required for the majority of our roles. At entry level, knowledge and experience of the below will be considered as beneficial but not essential. Relevant experience in managing environmental incidents, carrying out contaminated land surveys and site investigations, with knowledge of available investigation techniques and testing.Hands on experience in the management of geo-environmental projects to facilitate site redevelopments, acquisition and disposal. Experience of operating on contaminated land projects and application of remediation techniques to deal with identified contamination. A working knowledge of key guidance and standards including Land Contamination Risk Management (LCRM) and BS10175 Investigation of Contaminated Sites.Proficient in logging soil and rock in accordance with BS5930Competent and diligent in the production of technical reports that are commercially focused and to meet challenging deadlines.The ability to work in a team and also demonstrate the drive and self-motivation to work independently, with minimal supervision. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate via clear and prompt written and verbal communications to colleagues, clients, contractors, regulators, and other consultants.The ability to manage projects to meet deadlines and budgets.Experience / sound knowledge of current and emerging environmental legislation, guidance, and best practice applicable to contaminated land consultancy.Be a member of a relevant professional organisation.Be computer literate and proficient in the use of Microsoft applications.As there will be travel to any location within the Company’s operational footprint, possession of a full UK driving licence is essential for this role. In addition, a full Criminal Records Check will be required due to the environments in which the post-holders will be deployed.
