We are looking for an experienced Engineering Department Manager with a strong sense of leadership to manage a diverse team of multiskilled engineers, team leaders, and contractors. Ensure site activity does not adversely impact the environment.Day-to-Day Team Management: Lead and manage a team of engineers and support staff. Oversee staff attendance via the attendance system, oversee performance management of staff, and drive teambuilding and a "one team" approach. Effectively manage the Engineering support manager/shift engineering team to complete day-to-day tasks.Contractor Control: Supervise contractors and ensure their work complies with safety regulations and meets quality standards. Effectively manage contractors to complete day-to-day tasks.Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for development and improvement in plant operations. Lead initiatives in continuous improvement, including capital expenditures (Capex) to enhance the site's performance.Team Development: Recruit, motivate, mentor, and support the team through training and performance management. Foster a collaborative and supportive environment where innovation thrives and a high level of accountability and responsibility is taken.Cost Control: Manage costs effectively, ensuring that maintenance and engineering activities are performed within budget without compromising on quality or safety.Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with internal teams and external stakeholders. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to senior management.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): Monitor and analyse KPIs to improve equipment performance and operational efficiency. Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions.Engineering Systems: Understand and use the engineering systems to effectively manage the task and the team. Develop and implement robust engineering PPM plans to optimize operations and ensure compliance with industry standards. Required Skills and Qualifications:Proven experience in managing both reactive and planned maintenance activities, including small installations. Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to motivate and inspire teams. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact at all levels of the organization. Solid IT skills including proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook. Professional qualifications and training in mechanical or electrical engineering. Strong understanding of common mechanical and electrical systems and processes. A proactive and professional attitude with a strong drive for continuous improvement. Experience in developing and managing capital improvement projects across a site.
