Our team is responsible for buying and hedging PrepayPower’s electricity supplies from the wholesale electricity market (ISEM) in Ireland, and our gas from the wholesale gas markets. Working with our short-term trading team, we will also acquire and trade power on the spot markets. The Forward Trading team is also responsible for forecasting our customer’s electricity and gas demand on both a daily, weekly, and longer-term basis. We also work with the wider business to develop customer insights based on our smart meter data and to continue using data to support our product development.The RoleWorking closely with management, the candidate will work in the following areas:Customer Demand Data FocusedWork with large amounts of energy data to extract insight and trends on our customers' gas and electricity consumptionAssist in Electricity and Gas Demand modelling and forecasting at Portfolio levelAnalyse Customer Demand Data and trendsHelp develop bottom-up models of our consumption and feed insights and trends back to our customersManage the flow of Trading and Finance data into and from our Data WarehouseMaintain our existing tools and help develop new in-house data analysis toolsAutomation of existing and new tools to enable continuous improvementEnergy Market Focused Be part of the trading rota for the team, producing demand forecasts for electricity and gas wholesale markets and assisting in day-to-day trading activities where requiredProduce tools and analysis to help us better understand and report on commodity and wholesale electricity marketsProvide general support to the hedging function within the businessWork with finance and accounts to settle our monthly contracts and help to explain variancesOver time become a subject matter expert on the wholesale electricity market and customer consumptionReporting and DashboardingAssist Board level reporting by producing weekly and monthly dash-boarding and reporting of wholesale power and gas positions and trendsWork with the team to help develop new data visualisation toolsCandidate Skills and ExperienceWe recognise that candidates will not have all of these skills but we are looking for people who exhibit some of them and are driven to learn the restOur work is heavily data based, as such the candidate should have a third level degree in a quantitative subject such as engineering, physics, maths, science or data analytics. Advanced degrees such as Masters or PhD’s and / or 1-2 years’ work experience would be an advantageBe resourceful and proactive.
