Driver Trainer

Owens Group are looking for a motivated, knowledgeable and organised person to take responsibility for the learning, development and delivery of HGV driver training. You will be joining our team of trainers across the UK working from our Dafen Depot.Hours of work: 45 hours per weekWork location: Dafen, LlanelliSalary: £39,000 per annumWork Pattern: Monday to Friday  (can vary depending on business needs)Start times: As discussed with Line Manager (can vary depending on business needs)Benefits:Holidays: 20 days per annum + bank holidaysCompany Discount BenefitsCompany Salary Sacrifice Pension SchemeLife AssuranceCompany uniform and PPE supplied and ongoing training provided.Specific Qualifications/Job Training:Driver and Training and Assessment Related qualifications (RTITB, RHA, SAFED and/or equivalent) (Desirable)Train the Trainer Qualification/Assessor Qualifications (Desirable)JAUPT approved training assessor (Desirable)CPC Qualification (Desirable)Specific Experience:Development of Training Course Materials and Driver Handbooks Understand and adhere to Legal Requirements i.e. Health & SafetyProblem solving/logical thinkingUnderstand Learning Styles to get the best out of the traineeExcellent time management, prioritising work to meet tight deadlinesFull proactive Compliance ManagementSpecific Skills:Full UK HGV Driving LicenceDemonstrate ability to prepare effective written and visual teaching materials in line with course requirementsAbility to influence and being able to communicate at all levelsComputer skills – Microsoft Office and TruTacGood communication skills, interaction at all levels internal and external.Ability to maintain high standards whilst working under pressureTeam player with a flexible 'Can Do' attitudeSpecific Key Accountabilities:Assist in achieving full legal compliance with the Operators License, Health and Safety and Driver Hour Regulations.Design and develop and deliver effective driver Induction and Training programmes, and regularly monitor and review accordingly and ensure Statutory Training requirements are met.Implementing appropriate courses including tachograph, manual handling, fuel management, defensive driving and safety training.Classroom presentations on Highway Code, Drivers hours, Safe Loading (Steel), Health & Safety, and working time directive rules and regulationsTo design and implement training and development programmes as appropriate to improve operational efficiency. Produce training materials for in-house courses and manage the delivery of training and development programmesGive consideration to costings of such planned programmes and keep within budgets as assessing the return on investmentKeep up to date with developments in training i.e. reading relevant journals, going to meetings and attending relevant coursesReviewing data from the in cab telematics and Tachograph analysis systems including Driver Hour Infringements, MPG, Idling, Harsh Braking/Acceleration and agreeing a corrective training plan.Owens Group is committed to equality of opportunity.
