The Digital Archivist will play an essential role in managing the Archive’s digital collection, focussing on collections care and facilitating access. They will create strategies to manage the current and future intake of small and large collections of digitalborn material; manage the Museum’s digital archive collection on our digital preservation platform Preservica and our own network; catalogue digital collection items on our collection management system Tracer (a version of MuseumIndex+) and assist in the creation and support of our new online collections portal. They will also be involved in digitisation projects and will be required to assist others in the Archive & Object Collections team where needed. Key Accountabilities:· To assist with ongoing and new cataloguing projects, with a particular focus on digitalborn archival material.· To create strategies for the collection and preservation of digitalborn material and digitised material, with a particular focus on creating strategies for our status as a Place of Deposit and future acquisitions of large digitalborn collections.· To assist with the creation and management of a new online collections portal.· To assist with digitisation projects for the archival collection.· To answer enquiries, both written and oral, for internal and external researchers.· To work as a team with the rest of the department to solve problems, look after the collection, provide information and learn new skills.· To provide talks and tours to a variety of groups when required such as Behind the Scenes.· To assist in all aspects of collections care such as, housekeeping, pest management and preventative conservation if required.· To offer appropriate support to the rest of the organisation including the participation in Museum events. What you'll bring: Essential· Degree level education or equivalent in a relevant subject.· Computer literate with experience of digitisation.· Knowledge of cataloguing processes and software.· Knowledge of digital preservation strategies.· Knowledge of digitalborn archive collections, processing thereof and digital collections care.· Demonstrable interest in history.· Be able to communicate concise and clearly on paper and in person.· Have a high level of attention to detail and value accuracy.· Have good organisational skills.· Have effective time management skills.· Be open to continuously learn and ask others for assistance.· Have the ability to work in a small team but also able to use their own initiative with minimum supervision.· Previous work with digital archival collections for at least 1 years.· Ability to support evening and weekend events when required.· Ability to travel to site.Desirable· Postgraduate Degree in Archival Studies.· Knowledge of 20th Century history.· Have experience of working in a small team.· Experience with creating archival strategies.· Experience of researching in Archives.· Experience in collections customer service.Advert close date 22nd October 2025 Screening interviews to be held 27th October 2025
