From expert consultations, diagnostic testing to specialized treatments, we will support women through their healthcare journey.ROLE PURPOSEThe senior dietitian plays a pivotal role within the multidisciplinary healthcare team, providing expert, evidence-based nutrition care and medical nutrition therapy tailored to individual needs. This role involves designing, implementing and evaluating dietetic care plans in line with current clinical evidence, Blackrock Clinic guidelines, Joint Commission International standards, and the Irish Nutrition and Dietetic Institute (INDI) frameworks.The post-holder will have demonstrable experience in Women’s Health and be confident in the nutritional management of core conditions such as polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, menopause, perimenopause and premenstrual symptom management. They will demonstrate advanced skills in behaviour change techniques, including motivational interviewing, with a minimum of Behaviour Change Training Level 2 (or equivalent). The role requires the ability to sensitively support patients through often complex and long-term health concerns, using patient-centred approaches to care. The post-holder will also be expected to critically appraise and apply emerging evidence to ensure safe, effective and ethical practice, maintaining an awareness of areas where evidence may be limited, evolving or conflicting, and using sound clinical judgement in line with best practice and departmental guidance.Qualifications / RequirementsBSc or MSc in DieteticsMinimum 7 years post-qualification experienceDemonstrable experience in Women’s HealthRegistered with CORUClinical ResponsibilitiesDeliver safe, ethical, patient-centred care within the scope of professional competence, following best practice guidelines and governance standards.Conduct detailed nutritional assessments using appropriate and validated methodologies.Interpret medical, clinical, biochemical and social information to inform care planning.Critically evaluate collected data to formulate evidence-based care plans.Apply behaviour change strategies and motivational interviewing techniques to support patients in adopting sustainable health behaviours.Provide clear, accurate documentation of the full nutrition care process.Engage patients and families in shared decision-making to promote adherence and positive outcomes.Maintain up-to-date records, statistics and reports in line with departmental policy.Be alert to the proliferation of non-evidence-based information in nutrition, especially regarding supplements, and provide patients with balanced, scientifically grounded advice.Contribute to the creation and review of patient education resources and diet sheets with a focus on accessibility, cultural sensitivity and scientific accuracy.Ensure that all significant clinical decisions or new care approaches are discussed with the Dietitian Manager before implementation.Education and TrainingIdentify patient learning needs and any barriers to understanding or behaviour change.Provide tailored, practical nutrition education that is aligned with patients' health goals.Lead education sessions for the dietetics department and broader MDT on Women’s Health-related topics.Offer mentoring, supervision and skills development opportunities for dietitian colleagues as required.Actively contribute to the education and support of HSCP colleagues and student dietitians.Remain up to date with national and international guidelines and emerging research relevant to dietetic practice in Women’s Health.Maintain professional development records and engage in lifelong learning activities.AdministrativePrioritise tasks efficiently and maintain high standards of clinical productivity.Manage time and resources in a cost-effective manner while maintaining quality of care.Maintain accurate clinical and administrative records in line with clinic and department policy.Contribute to ongoing service development and evaluation in the Women’s Health Clinic, using audit and feedback processes to guide improvements.Support the integration of digital tools and data systems in day-to-day dietetic practice.Health and SafetyAdhere to all Blackrock Clinic and Women’s Health Clinic policies, procedures and safety protocols.Be aware of and comply with health and safety legislation and standards relevant to dietetic practice.Promptly report any incidents, hazards or near misses and contribute to a culture of safety.Support infection control, risk management and accreditation processes including those of the Joint Commission.Promote and maintain a respectful and inclusive environment for patients and colleagues.Performance Improvement & Evidence-Based PracticeStay informed of current research and critically appraise new developments in nutrition and dietetics, especially where emerging trends (e.g., supplements or popular diets) may conflict with established evidence.Incorporate up-to-date, high-quality research into clinical decision-making and service delivery.Take responsibility for maintaining professional standards and engaging in reflective practice.Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation.Actively contribute to achieving and exceeding patient satisfaction benchmarks.• Competitive salary• Pension• Sports and Social club• Employee Assistance Programme Please Note:Job descriptions are a reflection of the present service requirements and may be subject to review and amendments to meet the changing needs of the service.
