Title:  Data EngineerReporting to: Data Operations Manager Location: Grand Canal Dock, Dublin 2 Contract: Full time Permanent. We have maintained this purpose by attracting the very best talent to meet the evolving needs of our Members and customers.About the Role:Reporting to the Data Operations Manager, the Data Engineer will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and development of the on premise MS SQL IPB Enterprise data warehouse (EDW) and will be part of a Data Management & Support (DMS) team tasked with maintaining and improving the IPB Data Strategy, ongoing maintenance, and enhancement of the data assets, associated infrastructure, and tools in conjunction with other IT resources. The role includes liaising with Business Departments to understand their reporting requirements and making the necessary changes in the warehouse environment to deliver on those requirements. To be successful in the role you will be accountable for:End to End EDW Change Management – establishing and clarifying requirements, analysis of the EDW to establish what changes need to be made and where, to the Operational Data Store, Data Warehouse, SSAS Tabular models and Data Integration Framework, provide work estimates to effect those changes, updating the necessary stored procedures, creating/amending tables & views, validating and testing the changes, liaising with the Business to verify the changes and aligning with the deployment process to implement the changes into a live environment and keeping all the associated documentation in order. Contributing to the planning for monthly deployments.Provision of consultancy and advisory services to project managers, business analysts, data analysts and developers on making best use of the data architecture.Proposing high-level data architecture enhancements to meet requirements for changes to source systems that flow into the EDW.Contribute to the design, build and support of the components of data warehouse (EDW) such as ETL processes, databases, reports, and reporting environments.Contributing to the design of dimensional models with conformed dimensions, following the business’ processes.Contributing to the development and automation of ETL processes including error & reconciliation handling.Contributing to the review and ensure data loaded into EDW is accurate (Ensure the integrity, validity, and reproducibility of all data in the EDW).Contributing to the delivery of Governance & Management framework (Data Life Cycle, Data Quality, Access Control, Documentation – Data dictionary, model etc).Analysis and implementation of Audit controls.Contributing to the ongoing development of the IPB data strategy technologically and procedurally and supporting the business in delivering quality MI.The role will not be responsible for the design or content of Business reports, this responsibility will continue to lie with the business.What we're looking for:BSc Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, or relevant professional experience.Relevant experience with a focus on Data Engineering, Data Analysis, Warehouse Design and development, and Business Intelligence, preferably within the Financial Services / Insurance Industry.In depth knowledge and experience of the end-to-end Change and Release Management process for delivering Enterprise Data Warehouse change requestsProject Management Lead of or major contributor to large transformational or strategic projects (preferably Data related)Technical background to include proficiency in Data warehousing skills, Data Integration & Manipulation techniques, database design, ETL and SQL Reporting Services, SQL Database & Schema planning, design, and optimisation.Excellent knowledge of and proven experience in the following technologies: MS SQL SSMS, Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, Source Control (Git), SSAS & SSIS and DAXProficient working technical knowledge of SQL development, SQL Server (All Editions), PowerBI, Power Platform, Power Pivot for supporting End user self-service. Excellent organisational, planning, time management and collaboration skills.Ability to drive change and secure consensus collaboratively without resorting to defensiveness.Ability to work on multiple initiatives simultaneously.Desirable: Experience with both on-premises and cloud-based SQL Warehouse implementation, including migrations.
