Control and Scheduling Manager

Northern Security is entering an exciting phase of growth, and we are looking for a Control and Scheduling Manager to take ownership of our central monitoring and control function.This is a key leadership role responsible for ensuring the effective coordination of operations, safeguarding personnel and assets, and driving continuous improvement across our Control Room.You will play a pivotal role in shaping how our Control function evolves as the business scales.The Control and Scheduling Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the central monitoring station, ensuring the safety of personnel and assets through effective surveillance, incident response, and workforce coordination.The successful candidate will play a key role in driving operational efficiency, workforce planning, and continuous improvement across the Control Room function.Salary: £35,000 per annumHours: 42.5 hours per week, with flexibility required to support operational demandsKey ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Control Room Operations:Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Control Room operators to maintain high performance standardsAct as the primary escalation point for operational issues, including incidents and staffing gapsEnsure effective 24/7 Control Room coverage and operational continuityCoordinate responses to incidents, including liaison with emergency services where requiredWorkforce Planning & Scheduling:Manage and optimise rotas for 200+ security officers, working towards structured and efficient schedulingImprove visibility and forward planning of shifts to support operational stabilityCover and coordinate gaps due to annual leave, sickness, and short-notice changesSupport the development of a flexible workforce, including zero-hours coverage solutionsOperational Improvement & Strategy:Analyse operational data and control room logs to identify trends, risks, and areas for improvementContribute to the growth and development of Control Room services and future contractsDevelop and implement standard operating procedures and emergency response processesPeople, Training & Compliance:Liaise with HR and Operations on recruitment, succession planning, and workforce requirementsOversee the distribution and tracking of training plans to ensure full compliance across all sitesEnsure adherence to data protection, compliance, and industry standardsSystems & Infrastructure:Monitor and report on the performance and maintenance of control room systems and equipmentSupport continuous improvement of systems and processesEssential Requirements:Demonstrated ability to manage teams in high-pressure situationsStrong understanding of data protection and compliance requirementsExperience managing complex rotas and workforce planningStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication skills, including stakeholder managementExperience using security or workforce management systemsProficient in Microsoft Office (Particularly in Excel, Outlook and Teams)Desirable Requirements:Proven experience within a security, control room, or emergency dispatch environmentKey Competencies:Decisive and calm under pressureHighly organised with strong attention to detailAble to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environmentProfessional and confident in handling critical situationsIf you feel this opportunity matches your experience and aspirations, we welcome your CV and a covering letter detailing the skills, knowledge, and personal qualities you can contribute to our team.
