In return you will be rewarded with a great package, fantastic culture, challenging role and an opportunity for development and progression. The role:The purpose of the role is to provide ecological consultancy services to clients and provide ecological support to the Group as a whole. The role offers opportunities to develop and enhance skills in a wide range of wetland related studies, as well as other terrestrial habitats in need of restoration.The postholder is contracted to a 35-hour week over 5 days, daily hours of work being 9am to 5pm with a one-hour meal break. In addition to contractual hours, the postholder will be required to dedicate any time required to ensure all tasks are satisfied and completed. Candidates should be based in the South East, specifically East Anglia. This role can be homebased (in the East Anglia area) and the successful candidate will be required to travel to any company location or customer site.The key tasks and responsibilities associated with the role are:Conducting Phase 1 or UK Hab site assessments of habitats and associated report writing, inclusive of habitat mappingConducting a range of hydrological and topographic surveys with associated analysis and reporting.Providing advice on habitat restoration and management techniques (with a particular focus on wetland and water environments)Project manage own workloads on a daily basis in conjunction with senior staff Undertake analysis of ecological datasets and relate them to legislative requirementsProvide advice to the Group on potential ecological and hydrological impacts on emergency and/or planned worksProvision of emergency / supervisory site support to the Group if requiredAssist business development, marketing quotations and tendersAssist with the wider team's project delivery including assisting with fisheries surveys, vegetation surveys, site investigations and pollution incident responseHelp maintain and develop client relationships through effective project management and provision of excellent customer serviceProvision of accurate and timely information to line managementSupporting team performance by sharing knowledge and best practices at all levelsField survey work outdoors, working in variable weather conditions, walking for varying distances, carrying equipment, bending for periods of time, working in and near water which can be physically demanding. This list is not exhaustive and the postholder will be expected to carry out any other duties for which the post holder is qualified and able to carry out. Consultant Ecologist Requirements:At least 2 years of experience in ecological consultancy, supplemented with proven capabilities in one or more of the following areas: Terrestrial Ecology, Aquatic Ecology, Hydrology.Hold a degree (or equivalent) in an environmental subjectUnderstand the principals and practice of key ecological or hydrological field surveysHave IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office, to enable delivery of high-quality communication and reportingPossess good analytical and numeric skillsBe prepared to work in inclement weather and in physically demanding environmentsBe willing to work outside of normal social working hours for specific surveysGood personal time management, communication skills with internal and external clients and team members locally and nationallyWillingness to learn new skills and to be flexible in terms of travelling and working hours as projects can be distributed across the UKHold or be working towards professional accreditationKnowledge of wildlife and aquatic environment legislation and its implementation, would be an advantageA full UK driving licence Consultant Ecologist Benefits:25 days + 8 bank holidaysPension schemeRefer a friend schemeRegular opportunities for training and development
