Job Title                     Computed Radiology Information System Administrator   Reports                       Radiology Service Manager Hours                          35 hours per weekRole Purpose:A Computed Radiology Information System (CRIS) Manager is responsible for managing and maintaining the Radiology Information System within Blackrock Clinic. Their role involves overseeing the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of the RIS software and working with related software - PACS. The role is 60% CRIS focused with 40% PACS involvement.  Key responsibilities and duties:System Administration:Install, configure, and maintain the Radiology Information System (RIS) software and associated components.Manage user accounts, security settings, and access controls within the RIS.Ensure proper integration and interoperability between the RIS and other relevant systems e.g., Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) & the implementation of an Electronic Health Record (EHR) within 2years.Perform system upgrades, patches, and troubleshoot any technical issues that arise.Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize system efficiency.Data Management:Oversee the accurate and timely entry of patient and exam-related data into the RIS.Develop and maintain data dictionaries and coding standards for consistent data entry.Ensure data integrity and implement data backup and recovery procedures.Generate and analyse reports on system usage, productivity, and performance metrics.Collaborate with other departments to ensure data exchange and synchronization with relevant systems.Training and Support:Provide training to radiology staff and other users on CRIS functionality and best practices.Serve as a point of contact for CRIS-related inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support.Develop and update training materials, user guides, and documentation.Stay updated on the latest CRIS features, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.Quality Assurance and Compliance:Perform regular audits to identify and address any discrepancies or non-compliance issues.Collaborate with Blackrock’s IT and security teams to implement necessary safeguards and security measures.Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of standardised workflows and protocols.Project Management:Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of CRIS-related projects, such as system upgrades, integrations, or enhancements.Collaborate with vendors, IT teams, and stakeholders to ensure successful project implementation.Develop project timelines, track progress, and report on project status.6.      Responsibilities of the PACS involvement include:System Management: Overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of the PACS system to ensure it runs smoothly and efficiently. This involves managing hardware, software, and network infrastructure related to PACS.Data Security and Integrity: Ensuring patient data security and privacy, as medical images contain sensitive information. Implementing measures to safeguard against unauthorized access and data breaches is essential.Quality Assurance: Monitoring the quality of images acquired and stored in the PACS system. This involves working with radiologists and technologists to address any issues related to image quality.User Training and Support: Providing training and support to radiologists, technologists, and other staff members who use the PACS system to ensure they can effectively use it for their work.Integration and Interoperability: Collaborating with other hospital information systems (HIS) and electronic health record (EHR) systems to ensure seamless integration and interoperability of patient data and images.Backup and Disaster Recovery: Implementing backup strategies and disaster recovery plans to prevent data loss and ensure business continuity in case of system failures or emergencies.Performance Monitoring and Optimization: Monitoring system performance and optimizing PACS workflows to enhance efficiency and productivity.7.      Qualifications and Skills:5+ year’s experience in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration or a related field.Experience working with Radiology Information Systems, Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) or Electronic Health Records (EHR).Strong knowledge of healthcare workflows and radiology department operations.Proficiency in system administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.Familiarity with DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) standards.Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a team and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and privacy.Project management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
